Rattle

"I....I don't have it......I..I..swear!" The gibbering fool human we were talk to said as I leaned in.

"Why do I have the feeling your lying to me?" I hissed. The man looked as though he was about to faint.

"I'm not!" He said. I looked around the small stand he was in. It was nothing special, just a small jewelery shop with some rings on display and some headwear in the back. We figured it would be a long shot but we have been going around town looking at different shops to see if anyone was selling or knew of the copper helm, and now the black box, or at least its thief. I wasn't worried if anyone could open the box, only Jamada could, after learning that the box would only open to the kobolds touch, but no one else. No, it was if we could find it was worrying me, along with finding the ancient artifact that a power hungry vampire was after.

Life's just going great. I think.

I leaned back and looked at the cowering human one last time before walking off.

"This is idiotic." I telepathically say to Venom. "What are the chances that we find some fool selling a ancient and probably powerful artifact?"

"Have you so easily forgotten about the merchant who sold that human fool a ring because it 'looked pretty', when it had the power to trap elementals?" Venom said.

"Fair enough." I said, as I looked at the new ring I......acquired. Albeit I had to wipe the blood away but that's besides the point. The ring could contain four elementals at a time, but you had to whisper the element on the ring and it would change to that color. For instance, the gem color now was a bluish-green, the element of water.

We continued our search through the south side of town, while Jamada and Bukka looked to the north. Nightfall soon came, and we headed back to the tavern were we met Bukka, The Three Swords, and waited for them. Some time later Jamada and Bukka entered and joined us at the table on the farthest side of the tavern.

"Any luck?" Jamada asked as he sat down.

"None." I said. "There was no sight of the helm, box, or thief."

"Of course." Jamada said with a worried look on his face.

"There are still a lot more shops and merchant stands look at." Bukka said. "There are also some thief guilds that Bukka will to go to, and talk with the guild masters to see if they may have heard of this copper helm."

"And this is also the third day." I said. "We still have a couple more days until Morrigan 'kills all life' on Golarian."

"But he could find it this night." Jamada remarked.

"It is unlikely that he will find it tonight or the next few nights after." Bukka said. "There are many artifacts here in the city, and not to mention he will need to feed."

This seemed to make him relax a little, but he still had a worried look on his face. A bard maid, another half-orc, finally came over to our table and we ordered our drinks. She seemed eager to leave and reluctant to come back with our drinks. I silently laughed when I looked her in the eye and she looked as though she was about to faint. She practically ran away from the table when she was finished.

"Worry not my friend." Bukka said as he placed a hand on Jamadas shoulder. "The hunt is far from over. And the night is still young."

"Will there even be any merchants stands or shops open, or are they eager to close shop to go whoring and drinking?" Venon asked.

"Some will be open." Bukka said. "Usually for arranged meetings between thieve guilds, but yes most do leave early."

"Humans." Me and Venom both muttered.
