The camp was two miles away from the camp we were at but was again easily covered with the phantom horses we summoned. The camp wasn't hard to miss, though it seems more like a fortress than a camp. It had large wood logs sticking out of the ground around the area, and a large wooden gate with the heads of different creatures mounted on it.

It didn't take long for us to get notice, for within a minute upon arrival, we could hear croaking coming from behind the walls, and moments later a spear flew from behind the wall and stuck in the ground one foot away from me.

"I think they know that we are hear." Venom said.

"Then let us not keep them waiting. Care to do the honors?" I said to Venom. He smiled evilly and began to charge a ball of force in the palm of the gauntlet. Then I heard the sound of the gate open, or start to, until it was completely blown away by a powerful wave of force. The gate was blown to pieces, along with a good portion of the wall, which went flying if different pieces. Some impaled boggards, others flew through the ranks and I could hear the sounds of bones break and saw that some limbs were blown off. We walked into the fortress and saw dozens and dozens of boggards had been damaged, and more than a few were on the ground in agony....until we put a rapier through the throat or a morning star cracking on there heads. However, as we got deeper into the fortress, more boggards came out of there huts, weapons draw and there were more than a few. We were quickly surrounded by dozens and dozens of boggards and they didn't seem to be taking prisoners.

The gauntlet artifact would feast well this night.

We got back to back and I heard Venom use the same force spell, though I wasn't able to see the damage I could well imagine it. I used my own destructive spells, fireballs, lightning bolts, rays of scorching heat, I even summoned the giant serpent coil again, and with the boggards being so close, dozens of them fell dead. Of course, the boggards got a few hits of there own though it didn't do much thanks to the force shield we casted. It soon got to crowded for either of use to move, so we decided to make some breathing room and casted the same spell, and created a volcanic storm around us, sending hot clumps of ash and and volcanic rock on the boggards. Venom also added the gauntlets energy into the mist, creating a wider range and a more powerful storm. When the storm ended, every boggard in the hoard was turned into a ash statue.

"Damn we're good." I said as the statutes broke apart.

We continued through the fortress without another incident, and when ever we did, the boggards would run away in fear. We eventually got to the center of the fortress, were a giant hut of animal skin sat behind a large stump carved into a throne. On the throne sat a huge boggard.

It was the biggest boggard I have seen in my life, even with it sitting down, it looked like it was seven ft tall. It had a crown made of bones tide together on its head, and a cape made of leather on its back, and a big morningstar that was almost as tall as he was lending against the throne. The most striking thing about it was the staff it was holding in its hand. It was made of a silver metal with arcane writing all around it, and on the top is a snakes head rearing with a green gem in its mouth.

"King Bullgup I presume." I said calming walking up to the throne.

The boggard simply growled and got up revealing his eight foot eight. "Indeed." He said. "And you no doubt here for the staff."

"What gave that away." I said sarcastically.

"My.............advisor told me of your coming." He said as he garbed the morningstar. "I was intrigued to learn that serpentfolk had entered my kingdom. I am impressed with how many of my minions you killed. If my.....advisor didn't offer me the promise he gave, I probably would hire you into my army."

"Then well be sure to tell your advisor our answer." I said.

"After we kill you of course." Venom said. The boggard simply laughed.

"I doubt it." He said as he put the staff away, and put the massive morningstar in both hands and roared.

He charged forward and raised the morningstar to crush me, but I jumped away at the last second and casted the invisibility spell on me. The boggard began to look around but we looked eyes and he smiled. "You can't hide from me." He said as he went to swing the Morningstar. I heard Venom unleash a wave of force and saw it hit the boggard, almost sending him to the ground. Almost. The boggard laughed and charged at Venom, swinging the Morningstar with great speed and strength. I casted a fire ball at the frog, but it didn't even seem to notice when it hit, in fact it seemed to fuel his rage. The boggard raised his Morningstar and went to slam it down on Venom, but his force shield blocked the blow. I then raised my hands summoned another serpent coil and had it wrap around the king. Venom continued to hit him with waves of force after force that would kill most creatures up close. Bullgup managed to slip a arm through a coil and with one arm, pulled it off him, garbed the tail and slung it around as if was a toy. He then spun around and smashed the coil into Venom and sent him flying back.....towards me.

He smacked into me and we where sent flying back, a good ten feet. I groaned as I got up and saw in horror that my quarter staff, the one given to me by my father was knocked from my belt and under the foot of the boggard. The boggard seemed to put little effort on his foot as he cracked the staff in half.

It felt as though my heart was ripped in half, the staff, given to my father that I killed was destroyed. At that moment I felt like breaking down, but it was soon replaced with rage. I saw Venom shot at the boggard with rapid blasts of force, but seemed to do little against his advancement. Once he was in striking distance, swung his hand out and sent him flying away. The boggard walked up to him and raised his Morningstar in both hands to bring it down. A great rage over came me, and my vision went red.

Get the staff. I heard Gazera say in my mind and I found myself complying as I ran to Bullgup and jumped on his back. The king roared and swung around trying to get me off but to no avail. I grabbed the staff and jumped off. The king turned around and snarled at me and went to swing, but I unleashed a fireball at him, a bloodred fireball that sent him flying back at least fifteen feet.

Now send him to hell. I heard Gazera whisper and show what to do in my mind. I raised the staff and brought the end down on the ground, and a crack went from the staff to the boggard and the last thing he saw was me smiling, before he was engulfed in a large column of hellfire.

"Well that was...interesting." I heard Venom say next to me. "How did you do that?"

"I'll......tell you later." I said as I looked at the staff. Already I could tell that I was correct, for I saw the rune of Ydersius and it speaking of our history.

"How do you think he found it?" Venom asked as he put the gauntlet away.

"I don't know." I said. "But what matters now is that we have it, and we will have plenty of time to study it."

"Well I have another question brother." Venom said. "What will we tell Jamada when he sees you with this staff."

I was about to say something, but I just laughed. "I do not know brother, but we can figure that out heading back." However, as we took some few steps, I had this sensation to got into the giant hut that was behind the wood throne. I snuck up to the opening of the hut. I looked in but saw no one in, except.........a neatly folded piece of paper in the center of the room.

I looked to my brother curiously, and cast a spell to see if there was any magic coming from it and felt nothing. I walked up the paper, unfolded it and saw that it was written in blood, and surprisingly to us.

"To Rattle & Venom" I read out loud. "You should have stayed at the castle. Jamada might have lived longer. sighed....."

"By the gods." I said in disbelief. I showed Venom who sighed it. "How is he.....?" Venom started to ask but we looked at each other for a moment before we run out of the hut as fast as we could. We quickly summoned our phantom horses, and had the steeds run faster then we ever had them, hoping to get to Jamada in time
