Jamada
I smelled the scent of wood burning as I woke up.
I opened my eyes and I noticed that I wasn't in the open desert anymore, but I was on a rug next to a fire. I saw that I was in a tent, and I saw my jacket on the floor across from me. I also noticed that the pain is my abdomen was gone, and I got into a sitting position and saw the cloth that was wrapped around me was gone. The hole in my body was gone too and in its place was a pink circle.
"He's awake." I heard someone say and I saw Rattle, Venom, and Tamora come into view.
"How are you feeling?" Tamora asked as she placed a hand on my shoulder.
"I surprisingly feel fine, even though the last thing I remember is being stabbed in the gut." I said. "What happened? I remember there being gnolls that were attacking us, but I don't remember much after that. How did I get healed? How did we escape? And where are we?"
"You are in my home." I heard someone say. The others turned around and behind them was a gnoll. "I helped your friends fight against my kin, and we managed to drive them away, and I insisted them to bring you here to clean your wound. You are very lucky little one. If you were out there any longer you might not have made it."
"It took four healing potions to heal that wound, and three to get your breathing back up." Rattle said. "You've been asleep for a few hours now and we were starting to wonder if you were ever going to wake up."
"Thank Desna you did." Tamora said as she gently hugged me.
"But where did you get the healing potions? I thought Morrigan destroyed mine." I said.
"He did." Venom said. "But Klarr said he had some when he brought us over here, and we ended up using all of them." As he said that, memories started to come in and I vaguely remember being carried into the tent the the overs hovering over me, pouring the potion into my mouth. That just left one question.
"Why did you help?" I asked the gnoll Klarr. He seemed unsure of how to answer, and seemed to think for a moment.
"Because it felt right." He said. "When I saw my kin attacking, I immediately went down to investigate. Hardly anyone travels through here, being as dangerous as it is, and not a lot of creatures would openly face the size of a gnoll clan that large. When I got there, the fighting already begun and I watched how you three protected your friend. I realized if I sat there and do nothing, it would have been the same as being down there trying to kill you........and I left that life behind me long ago."
"So I fought against them and helped you because it felt right." He continued. "I swore that I would never be like my evil kin, even if it meant to stand against them."
"So that's why you looked sad." Tamora said when he finished. "When you killed the one that was still fighting when the others ran away, with the big sword. Did you know him?" He nodded.
"We were brothers once, and we fought together against the creatures that roamed the desert. Until he started a crusade for their evil goddess Lamashtu, and began to destroy villages." He said. "I could never partake in their slaughter. I just watched, horrified of the acts my kind did. I soon had enough of it, so when they went to attack another village, I fought back and with some help from the village, we managed to drive them away. On that day, I was forever banished from my tribe and seen as a traitor in the eyes of my kin. Ever since then, I roamed the desert, trying to find a place to call home."
"I'm sorry to hear that Klarr." I said.
"Don't be," He said. "I haven't looked back once. And besides, if I didn't find you all, I never would have been able to get to Eirrgekk, the gnoll that lead the attack, and kill him. With him dead, his crusaders will no doubt disperse. Now, perhaps you can answer my questi-."
