At the sight of Mariah walking closer to him, with her long black ringlet curls blowing in front of her face as always, a pair of all black leggings and a long sleeved white tunic T-shirt on her body, Drew couldn't stop his heart from beating a mile a minute.
With all that's been going on, he hadn't really seen or heard from Mariah, but now seeing her just a few feet away didn't stop the butterflies in his stomach from doing somersaults.
"Hey," Mariah's sweet bubbly voice was speaking to them in seconds, a warm smile on her face as she and her two friends approached. "What are you guys doing here?"
"Sugar daddy here is treating me to a night out," Travis answered before Drew could, lazily wrapping his arm around Drew's shoulder like he always did. "You guys?"
"We were staying late at the school with my mom, doing some student council things and Megan and Amber here said I needed to go out and have some fun," She explained, cutting her eyes at the two girls that stood to her left. "So, here I am."
Travis raised a curious eyebrow. "Staying with your mom? Your mom works at the school?"
She slowly nodded her head. "Yup. First year teaching. She's Miss-"
"Mariah Ashanti Valentine!" A loud scream caused everyone to turn their heads and glance at what was going on and just whom the voice belonged too that wanted to shout out the whole government name on her birth certificate. And of course, it just had to be Darnell.
"You told me you was staying late with your mommy," His arms crossed over his chest angrily, as he eyed her. "And so, I decided to come to the fair with my sister and look who I find."
"Darnell, I didn't want to come here, you know me," She answered, batting her eyelashes at her best friend sweetly. "Don't be mad at me."
"Mmm, it looks like you're boo-loving, though. Damn, 2 for Travis and 1 for Drew? That doesn't seem fair." Darnell gestured to the whole group, Travis scrunching his eyebrows in a confused manner but soon, letting a smile grow.
"Hey, I'm down for that." He wrapped his arms around Amber and Megan, pulling them close to him.
"Well, too bad. Looks like we're a full blown group now. I'm rolling with y'all," Darnell spoke, removing Travis's arm and fitting his way in between him and one of the girls. "Now, let's have some fun."
-
"Babyyyyy," Drew whispered against the crook of Mariah's neck, causing her to giggle like a school girl as she sat on his lap, arms entangled around his neck. "Let's get outta here."
"And go where?" She finally whispered back, watching as he shrugged. It had been 2 hours of them not being able to get some time together, as Darnell and Travis was clinging to their sides annoyingly like best friends do.
Megan and Amber had eventually left, thus, causing Travis to do nothing but bother Drew and Darnell to bother Mariah as now he couldn't ruin what fun Trav was trying to have.
Luckily, Mariah somehow convinced Darnell that she couldn't get on one of the rides with him due to her being scared of heights, and Drew escaped Travis by telling him that he had to use the bathroom. That left the two boys to go on the ride with one another and Drew & Mariah to get a bit of quality time but not nearly as much as he wanted.
His arms wrapped around her tightly, resting his head on her as she was comfortable in his windbreaker to keep her warm. He knew she was going to get cold in that outfit at some point.
