August 14th, 2015-

"Fuck." Dawn muttered, the faint sound of her classroom door closing behind Drew going through one ear and out the other, as she collapsed against the wall with one hand rested on her beating heart. This had to be a joke. It just had to be.

How in the world could her luck be so poor that not only was the man that she had a one night stand with a student in high school- the one she worked at nonetheless- but now she was going to have to spend extra time with him in order to help him gain his credits?

She couldn't breathe. It was like everything was coming at her too fast and the entire room was spinning out of control beyond repair. She somehow managed to wobble over to her desk by the window, reaching for the water bottle on there only to discover that it was 100% empty.

"Shit." She sighed, grabbing her cell phone from her desk and making her way to the door, and dashing down the hallway towards the water fountain.

She made it there in a few seconds, tossing her long and freshly straight black hair over her shoulder and bending down to let the cool and refreshing water hit her lips. She gulped down as much as she could tolerate, standing up and checking the time on her wristwatch before deciding that she needed to get this off her chest to someone. And quick.

She turned to look around her, no sound of the students coming back up from lunch yet as she walked towards the teacher's bathroom, her heels clicking against the hardwood floors of the school loudly as she cracked opened the door and slipped through.

It was empty as well in there, and she was glad of that fact as she unlocked her phone, clicked on the contact name she wanted and waited a few seconds before she heard a faint click sound and Trish's breathing on the other line.

"Hello?"

"Trish!" Dawn said her best friend's name in a harsh whisper, walking into a stall and closing the door after her as she clutched the phone to her ear.

"Yeah, what's up? You okay?" Trish's relaxed voice made her feel a bit more calm, as she slowly shook her head, though, she couldn't see her.

"Yes. I mean, no," She stuttered, slowly shutting her eyes as she tried to find words to comprehend. "I have some news."

She heard Trish sit up in her seat, and her voice came out in a worried state. "Is it Mariah? Is she okay?"

Dawn lightly smiled at the fact of how much her best friend loved and cared about her daughter, glad Mariah had such a good godmother.

"Yes, she's fine. It's something else."

Trish exhaled, her nerves coming to ease. "Well, spit it out. You got me worried."

Dawn peeked out the stall, making sure she was still alone. "Okay, I uh, well, I just bumped into my one night stand."

"You mean that man from the bar that night?" Trish's voice raised a bit, giving Dawn the impression that she was excited with the news.

"Yes! At the school, he just walked into my classroom."

"Oh shit," Trish paused for a while, figuring out what to say in response. "Did you guys talk?"

"Sort of, I just made it clear to him that I didn't want anyone to know we have a history." Dawn spoke, rubbing her temples.

"Why's that?" She could imagine Trish raising her eyebrows suspiciously at what she was saying.

"Because I could possibly lose my job! Nothing good can come from this."

"Dawn, just calm down. Don't get worked up about it," She could hear Trish typing on the computer at her office through the phone. "How much you wanna bet that man is not in the bathroom freaking out over you like you are over him?"

She bit down on her lip, before slowly nodding her head. "Yeah, you're right."

"So, just take another breather," Dawn completed the action. "And don't sweat anything. You two are two grown people with degrees, you can't possibly get into too much trouble." A giggle escaped Trish's lips and Dawn instantly scrunched up her face.

Shit. Trish thought he was a teacher.

She quickly tried to correct the situation, ready to confide in her best friend and tell her the actual truth. "No, Trish, you got it all wrong, he's not-"

Trish stopped her short. "Look sweetheart, I have to go. Boss man is getting in my ass for the personal call. I'll call you later, love you."

Dawn decided to hold off on what she had to tell her, letting her go. "Okay. I love you too, Trish. Thanks for listening."

"It's what I'm here for babe, bye." Trish said her goodbye, before hanging up the phone call and leaving Dawn to herself.

She sighed a final time, opening the stall and making her way over to the mirror to check herself out. Her makeup was still intact and with a couple finger runs through her hair, she would look just the same as she did when she left her house this morning.

She stared at her reflection, the sound of the school bell ringing in the distance as she turned on the cold water and splashed some on her face. Let's hope this situation couldn't get any worse.
