(Hope)
After making my mother breakfast in bed this year and wishing her a happy mothers day, I ran over to Aria's house faster than I even knew I possibly could. I immediately knocked upon her door just as loudly as my heart was pounding against my chest and the door swings opens. But to my surprise, it is not my Ariana.
"What the hell are you doing here?" She scowls at me with such a remarkable capability of disgust."Lacey," I sigh, "Let me in." I stubbornly demand of her as I cross my arms across my chest and she in response, does something quite nicely for me.
"SLAM!"
The door hits me right in the face and I double over in pain. However once I regain my composure and straighten myself out, I can say that I'm surprised by the fact that my nose isn't bleeding or broken from the impact. But I don't give up, I pound upon the door once again, but this time I do so even harder. "Lacey! You open this door right n-!" Abruptly the door opens, "Or wha-!" She begins to scream at me, but suddenly she stops. I freeze, what have I just done! It was then that I had realized as she abruptly doubled back and covered her face that my fist had accidentally, just made contact with her face. I couldn't even believe it at first, but she had caught me off guard by swinging that damn door open so fast.
She heaves out a breath of anger like a woman does when she's about to rip off her husbands head after finding out that he had just cheated on her. Slamming the door close behind her, she takes a step towards me outside. "Look, I don't know what's been wrong with you lately. But you need to fucking stop, today is a very sensitive day for Ariana and I am here to make her fucking feel better. Which means that she doesn't need you around here to confuse things for her anymore or to make matters even worse. Do you understand me?"
"Lacey." I try to say, but she just wouldn't let me speak! "I don't know why after two fucking years of making out with other girls like your some fucking celebrity kissing effing babies at some fucking parad-"
"Lacey!" I say a bit louder now, waving my right arm in front of her face as I try to get her out of her little rampage. But it doesn't work considering that she just snatches it away from my body. "Don't you put your fucking hand in my face!" She screams at me, I just sigh in defeat. There is absolutely nothing that I can do to get her to listen. But it was then that she had surprised me. She takes a step back and looks me over curiously till finally, she opens her mouth and let the words flow out calmly, instead of the usual strong and demeaning. "Hope, after all that has happened... I mean, why now?" But it didn't last long, since her words start to accelerate with ferocity as she takes a step forward and places her legs steadily apart, her grip gets tighter and her face is ferocious.
"Tell me, why now had you all of a sudden decided to pester her again? I mean, can't you see that you're hurting her? You know, she's better off without you." I've never in all of my life, not even once have I ever wanted to punch a person in the face before. But Lacey always did know just how to push my buttons. For she knows how to dish out her words onto a silver platter that always stings the most.
You know that saying, sticks and stones may break my bones but words can never hurt you. What a load of crap, I'd rather have the stones. Lacey jerkingly lets go of my wrist just to further prove her point and she gives me a good long glare before turning around. It was then that I saw my chance to say something and catch her off guard, I took it. "That may be true Lacey," She stops in her tracks, awaiting to hear what I had to say, probably even happy that I had just admitted that she might have been right for once. However she doesn't even have enough respect for me to turn around and look me in the eyes. So I continue, "But I need to know why Lacey!" I beg of her as I take a step towards her to further prove my desperation in this disposition.
"I'm tired of being told that... that 'we're better off without each other' and I'm pretty sure that she is too. Because guess what Lace, nothing is working and I'm getting fucking sick of it!" My voice rises unexpectedly at the end and I have to put my fist down and clench my teeth just to calm my anger. But it's weird, because I was never the one that got angry that easily before. But there I was, with my eyes closed and with a clenched jaw.
She looks over her shoulder at me and just scowls, "Leave her alone and stop with the fucking P.M.S." At this point I couldn't help but laugh, "Aren't you the one with the 'Pissed at Men Syndrome'? I mean seriously, Mrs. 'Let's go and destroy Hope's yard' for no apparent reason? Yay!" She swings around on her heel, her fiery red hair flying away just like her fiery temper. "I'll say it one last time. What do you want Hope?"
"I just want to make sure... that she's going to make it through the day, okay?" Abruptly, I notice Ariana standing behind Lacey watching us from behind the glassed in screen. Aria, she was just standing there in her pink pajamas with her straight silky hair in a side pony tail and a little silk ribbon laced around it. It was then that I had realized that Lacey was in her pajamas too. I guess I just didn't notice since she was wearing so much make up caked onto her face. Lacey opens the glass door and takes my Arie by the hips and my heart suddenly hits. Oh how I wish I had that privilege.
"Too bad, this bitch is mine for the day and we're going on a date!" I cross my arms laughing at Lacey's response. "What you two lesbo's now?"
"You know it!" Lacey smiles hitting Ariana's butt, Arie yelps out in surprise and her cheeks are suddenly flushed a bright red with embarrassment. "Lacey!" She hollers, but Lacey as always just ignores it. "Haha, you know I'm just joking Arie!" She smiles micheviously at her before turning back to me and with a wink she says "Or was I?" Ariana hits her in the stomach making her laugh and after a moment of laughter. Lace stands up-right and smiles at me. "But for today she is mine! So shoo, shoo!" Finishing with a grand ending by slamming the door, she then takes Aria by the hand and she shoves her shoulder against mine. I shake my head in amusement, Lacey always the one to brighten your day.
At least she'll make Aria smile today, I hope.
