Chapter 6
-Rye-
There's a knock on the door and I wake up.
I grunt and turn around in the bed so I end up with my face in the pillow.
I just want to continue to sleep. Even though I don't say it to anyone, I actually don't see a point in ever waking up again.
But it doesn't work that way. If there is a today it will also be a tomorrow, so I don't really have a choice.
The door opens and I hear Aunt Effie.
"Hey you two, you have to come to breakfast now", she says.
Mama told us that Aunt Effie was stressful and pushing before, but she's nothing like that anymore. Maybe because she is like everyone else against me and Willow competing.
I grunt in response and Aunt Effie leaves the room right away as if she doesn't want to be intrusive.
I sigh and unwillingly throw the warm blanket off myself. I sit on the edge of the bed and stretch, which in turn leads to a big bear yawn.
I slowly get dressed.
I look at Willows bed. She is completely under her blanket.
"Willow, are you coming?" I ask.
I get no response.
I smile and walk up to her bed.
"Willow? I say before I pull off her blanket.
I gasp. Willow isn't under the blanket. She has put a bunch of pillows under so it looks as if she's lying there.
I run out of the room.
"Willow!" I shout and run to the others.
Willow is not at the breakfast.
"Where's Willow?" I ask.
Mama and Papa looks at me as if I'm joking.
"She hasn't come here yet, sweetie, isn't she still in your room?" Mama asks.
"No! No she's not in our room, she put pillows under her blanket", I shout.
Everyone starts looking for her. But she has to be here, I mean where the hell can she go, she can't go anywhere.
I see that the door that leads to the roof is open. I stop outside it. I get a cold feeling in my body. She wouldn't... Or ... Would she?
"Mama!" I scream.
Mama, Papa and grandpa Haymitch comes running towards me. They see where I stand and that the door is open.
"The force field is turned off!" Mama screams and we all sprint through the door and rushes up to the roof.
We're crashing through the door and we all stop in the doorway like a mess, I press down grandpa and grandpa presses down Papa while Mama depends on us all so she's not falling to the ground.
While we stand in this mess, our eyes scanning through the roof.
And there she stands. But my heart jumps up in my throat and I get hard to breath. She's standing up on the railing at the edge of the roof.
It's beautiful here up on the roof now in the sunrise, it's pretty early in the morning and it's a bit chilly and windy. Willow only has a crop top and a pair of mini shorts, so she has be cold.
I'm the smallest, so I'm the first one to drag myself out of our dough and runs up to Willow.
"Willooow", I shout.
