Chapter 37

Scott's pov

This is it. This is our chance to get off the streets and start a new life, a better one. This is the best thing that's happened in so long. I don't think I've been so happy since... since I met Mitch....

I looked over at my friends and they were all staring in the direction that Phil walked away, still completely in shock. Nobody broke their stares until Ben started talking.

"Exciting news, hey?" He chuckled.

"Y-yeah." I stuttered out.

"You guys wanna come back to my office to sign all the paperwork and talk through the contract and everything?" Ben asked to which we all made sounds of agreement.

We started walking in the direction that we just watched Phil go before we heard Alex speak up. "Um guys!" He called. "I think I'm just gonna go back to the crawlspace this time, I'm not really needed here." He turned and started walking opposite of us.

"Alex! Come on, you're a part of this group. Just because you don't sing, doesn't mean we don't want you around. You're our friend, we love you." Kirstie called out towards him.

"It's alright Kirst, go on with what you guys have to do. I don't wanna get in the way." He continued walking away from us.

We all called after him and Kirstie ran for him but no matter what she had to say to the boy, he didn't want to hear it. Eventually Kirstie just let him leave and she returned to us.

"Is everything alri-" Avi started.

"It's fine." Kirstie stated sternly. "Let's go."

We started walking towards a large building and my hand slipped into Mitch's as we always do when we walk together.

"Okay, my office is on the fifth floor, let's go." Ben said as we walked into the building.

We walked into the elevator and were followed in by another guy. He was tall, well same height as me, his hair was brown and down, kinda like Mitch's but not exactly the same, and he was wearing all black. He had a bag in his hand so I just figured he was an assistant of sorts.

"Oh! Hey Dan! What're you doing around here today?" Ben asked excitedly.

"Ben! Hey! I just thought I would surprise Phil with some sushi lunch!" He happily said then lifted up the bag slightly.

"That's sweet."

"Well he's a hard working man! He deserves a little surprise every once in a while, you know." Dan grinned super wide.

"Oh yes! And, I'm being rude. Guys, this is Dan, he's Phil's.. umm..." Ben started.

"Boyfriend!" Dan excitedly piped in.

This Dan guy is so happy and excited. He's sure got a lot of energy.

"Yeah. Dan, this is Scott, Mitch, Kirstie, Avi, and Kevin." Ben gestured to each of us. "Phil actually just offerer them a contract."

"Oh wow! Well nice to meet you all and a big congrats to you! I'm rooting for you." Dan winked at us and smiled.

We all said thanks and had a short conversation with him before we all got off the elevator. Dan got off on the same floor as us. I watched him skip towards Phil and hug him from behind, which startled Phil. He turned around and Dan smiled and stretched his arms out while doing jazz hands as to say "surprise!" Dan said a couple words and I saw Phil smile and even blush a little bit. They hugged then Dan sat down beside Phil at his desk. What a cute couple.

"Okay, my office is just over here." Ben snatched my attention back to what we came for. We walked to Ben's office then we all found chairs and sat down around the desk. Ben walked us through the contract and how everything would work. We all signed what we needed to and that was that.

That was the first step on our journey off the streets and into a better life.
