Why Him?

The Flashback

I couldn't sleep because of an argument I had with my mom so I decided to call Josh. I asked what he was doing and he said he was just hanging at his place. Since we both weren't doing anything I suggested that I meet him at his place to hang out. Since he had nothing better to do he said yes. Josh and I had been secretly dating for the past couple weeks now. We didn't tell anyone because we didn't want to start a riot. Neither of us were really sure how how families would react to it. So better safe than sorry. I took a taxi to his place and he was waiting outside for me. "Hey there stranger." I walk up the steps. "Hey to you too." he grabs my hand and leads me inside. We watch tv in the living room for a while but then we both end up falling asleep. I wake up around 4 in the morning and then realize where I am. I guess me moving woke Josh up because he sits up and looks over at me. "Wow." I look up at him. "What?" he smiles. "Nothing. I just really like waking up next to you." I smile then kiss him. After kissing for several minutes he pulled away. "I should probably drive you home now. The last thing I want is for you to get in trouble because your not home in the morning when your mom gets up." I sit back. "She'll probably just think I went to Riley's." he shrugs. "I rather not take the risk." he goes to stand up but I grab his hand and look at him with sadness in my eyes. "Please don't make me go home." he sits back down. "Ok. I won't." he wrapped me in his arms and then kissed me on the top of my head. When I looked up at him I saw a look of love in his eyes that I've never seen before. It made me feel so warm inside that I couldn't help but kiss him. And from there it was all down hill.

The next morning I wake up to Josh bent down in front of me stroking my hair out of my face. "Ya gotta wake now. I need to get you home." I smile then close my eyes. "No thank you." he laughs. "Come on now." he walks out of the room and I get up. I then recall what happened last night. Well no one can ever know about this. I toss my shoes on and then meet Josh down at his car. Most of the drive is silent until we get to my place and say our goodbyes. When I get upstairs I try to be as quiet as possible. I am relieved when I see no sight of my mom. I sneak back into my room and close the door when I see her sitting on my bed. "Mom. What are you doing in here?" she looks over at me. "Where were you Maya?" I quickly think of an excuse. "I was with Riley." she stands up. "Thats funny because I called the Matthews and they were all eating breakfast together and didn't know where you were." I toss my shoes on the floor. "Yeah see I was going to go over but then-" she cuts me off. "I don't want to hear you lie Maya. Your clearly not going to tell me the truth so I'll just skip to the punishment. Your grounded for 3 weeks for leaving and not telling me. And another week for not telling me where you were. If you want that last week off then you can always tell me Where you were. Until then we can make it 2 more weeks." I sigh. "That's not fair." she turns back around to me. "No. Whats nots fair is waking up at 5 am not knowing where your daughter is." she slams the door behind her.
