Huckleberry to the Rescue

After Riley left I just sat there and cried for a while. I can't believe what she said. All this time I thought that she saw me the same. That nothing changed. But clearly I was wrong. I figured the one person I could count on being her for me was my best friend. Now I've even lost her. My mom is supposed to be coming back tomorrow but I never know with her. As I'm sitting on the couch my laptop lights up. My mom wants to video chat great. I would just leave it and not answer but then she would get worried. So I answer it. "Hey mom." she smile. "Hey baby girl. How are you?" I shrug. "I'm alright. Hows the movie?" she claps her hands. "The movie is wonderful! So far I've had twelve lines and I'm filming two more tomorrow. Then I will be heading back home!" I smile. "That's great mom." I hear someone knock at the door so I turn back to my mom. "Okay well someone's at the door so I'll talk to you later. Love you." she waves. "Love you too. I'll see you tomorrow!" I close my laptop and proceed to the door. I look through the peephole and see Lucas standing there. I open the door. "What do you want?" I say whilst rolling my eyes. I then get a n whiff of what smells like Chinese food and I try not to drool. "Do you have food?" he then holds up a Chinese takeout container. "Your favorite." I eyeball it. "Yeah come on in." he walks in and sets the food on then coffee table. I grab it and start munching down. "So did you just come her to bring me food or do have some other reason and you brought the food to make sure I let you in?" he sits down. "I talked to Riley." I let out a grunt. "Ugh!!!" he gives a small laugh at my noise. "Look I'm on your side. Riley shouldn't have said that to you." I set the food down. "You know what I normally would be happy with someone taking my side but since you have a weird thing for me, I'd be happier if you sided with Riley." he rolls his eyes. "I'm not taking your side because I like you. I'm taking your side because Riley's in the wrong." I pick my food back up. "Well thanks ranger rick." I finish my food and we sit in silence for a few minutes. He stands up. "Well I'll be on my way." I nod. "Okay. Thanks for the food." he smiles. "No problem." he walks to the door and lets himself out. Not but two seconds after the door closes I run, well more of a waddle run, to the door and open it up. "Hey Lucas." he turns around. "Yeah?" I stare to the ground. "If you don't have any plans you could hang here with me. I mean if you want." he smiles. "I'd love too." he walks back in and I'm to have someone to hang with.
