Thwaites

After changing into my swim shorts and tossing on a white linen button-up, I collect my keys, cigarettes, and shades and I leave the place not bothering to button up my shirt.

I realize my hair is mess when I brush it backwards using my fingers and it doesn't tame down.
I wasn't a fan of going outdoors right after a shower. The wind blows through my slightly damp hair and gets it both dried up and frizzed. I didn't know why I even bothered showering when I knew I'm going for a swim.

I take the bridge up to the beach and as I reach the end of it, I scan the packed shore for the others.

I spot them on the far left on a beach bed right onto the water.

"Ofcourse..." I chuckle.

Nala loved beach beds. She could sleep anywhere, cars, buses, airplanes, rocking chairs, on anything, anywhere...
And beach beds were her favorite snoozing spots.

I reach her spot and I find Cole and James playing beach racket while Nala and Brandon were laying back inside the beach bed, all giggly about some matter.

"Hi..." Brandon props on his elbows upon my arrival and Nala's smile fades as she turns her face away from me.

"Hate me all you want." I utter before I pass them both and slop on an empty chaise lounge that hid in the shades of a big palm tree.

A great tease crosses my mind and I instantly smile to myself.

"And Brandon..." I speak and he pokes his head out a moment later.

"You don't get to lay in the same bed as precious-get your ass out of there." I deadpan and then light a cigarette.

A moment later I hear him shuffle out of the bed.

"Brandon, sit your ass back down..." Nala challenges me.

"Oh?" I instantly get to my feet when Brandon gets onto the bed again.

The moment I come in sight they both crack up.
But I wasn't feeling the humor and I felt myself fume until my eyes caught her...

Miss Thompson...

Laying on a chaise lounge with her bag held over her head trying to provide her face with shade.

Why when she can just unfold the freaking beach umbrella right behind her?!
But what was she still doing here?

I took a step forward but then I hesitated.

"What is up with him?" Nala whispers.

"Seriously, get off of that bed..." I point a threatening finger at Brandon before I walk away, approaching her.

She was huffing and squinting at the sun all until my shade bestowed upon her.

She flinches before she pulls herself up straight.

"You're still here..."
I sounded confused.

She places her bag down and slides her legs off of the chaise lounge.

"Umm-hmm..." She nods, forcing a crooked grin.
She looked guilty of something...

"I'm just waiting on my friends..." She whispers breathlessly and I take a moment to notice she was giving me a rushed once over.

My smile forms.
Do you like what you see?

"You know you can just open this up and sit in the shade all you want..." I point at the umbrella behind her.
