Thwaites

The answer inclined to a no.

Not that Tess, as a whole, isn't a woman that I find attractive...
Because she most certainly is.
But I gave up giving any woman more than a thought or two for a while now.

I am more than willing to consider Tess another dear friend of mine, but that's just about it.
I'm done getting my heart broken.
Falling in love is falling down on your knees.
Love is weakness...
And I hate feeling weak.
I hate feeling needy of someone or some feeling...

And I know I've been giving Tess a hard time by not talking to her much, making her feel the way she feels right now.

I should put more effort to our friendship. I should get to know her and tell her a bit about myself.
Maybe if we established a better friendship, she'd feel more home, more welcomed here.

And that seemed like a plan for what's next.
But just after I yawned, my body yearning for some sleep, I feel my blood boil again as I remember Nala's confession.

My precious little sister...

The image of Brandon with my sister only made me want to get out of here, drive to his place, and beat the fuck out of him, giving him a total make over.

What was he thinking trying to get lucky with my sister?
How was I so fooled?
When did it happen? On who's watch?!

He's such a coward!
Did he pressure her?
Why did she let him?

How could they?

Did they do it out of love?
Why did Nala call it a mistake?
Who sleeps with someone by fault?!

I almost grunted angrily, but instead, I took a really deep breath.

My breathing was fast and Tess notices...

She turns her head my way.

"Are you okay?" She asks softly and my chest easens at the sound of her.

She was so tired, her voice was worn out and her eyes were irritated.

I wasn't helping her sleep anymore.
But then again, keeping her bedside lamp on wasn't helping me sleep either. It's keeping me awake.

"I'm sorry..." I sigh.

"I have a lot on my mind." I take another deep breath.
"It won't shut up." I sigh heavily.

"Nala?" She asks and I shut my eyes heavily.

"Yes..." I stress on my jaw and she shifts to her side, facing me.

"I think..." She hesitates, avoiding my guise.

"I mean-" She gulps.

"What if they're in love?" She whispers.

I shook my head mindlessly.

"She said it was a mistake..."
"What does that even mean?" I frown at her.

She brushes her hair back.

"It could mean alot of things..." She shrugs.

"But if I'm right, it could mean that they didn't mean for it to happen so soon." She speaks and I try to digest her words.

It was a possibility.

"He's still a coward."
"Tess-they've been fooling around for ages!"
"Always teasing each other, always having hushed side talks..."
"And I confronted Nala and she denied a hundred times."
"She said he was nothing but a pain in the ass but he made her laugh..."
"She's a liar!"
"And he said he just loved teasing her because she has a temper."
"He's also a liar."
"He's a bastard!" I sighed.
