Thompson"Hey Tess?"
"Thanks again..." Nala smiles and I nod, smiling back.Adam leaves his room and she rushes towards him.
"Thank you brother..." She hugs him tightly but he doesn't tighten his arms around her.
"I love you." She places a long noisy smooch on his cheek and he withdraws.
"You lips were just on his Nala!" He shoves her away and she snickers.
"And you know how much I hate that!" He warns and she rolls her eye, gulping..."You used to love that..." She eyes him but the amusement was gone.
"Goodnight Nala." He politely dismisses her.
"Goodnight Adam." She nods once and walks to her room.
"Come on Tess, let's get you to sleep." He waves for me to walk over to him.
"We don't have to sleep now..." I say as soon as I step into his room.
"If you don't want to." I gulped."No-I'm just..."
"I'm going to smoke a cigarette." He picks up his tobacco box before he walks to the balcony, meeting me halfway."Another spliff?" I almost catch his arm but I withdraw in just the right time.
He frowns a little and looks into my eyes.
We were standing closely."Maybe..." He shrugs. Traces of a smile appear at the sides of his lips. A guilty smile...
"Can I join?" I ask and his face falls.
"I mean-just to hang around." I restate and he nods once.
"Sure."
I follow him out.
We were seated side by side on the double couch before the coffee table.
I pretended to be texting for a little while but then I watched him immaculately roll his spliff as if his life depended on the task.
He rests back after sealing it and then he picks up the lighter and lights it up, blowing at it when the tips catch fire.
"I want to try it..." I find myself saying.
I gulp when he slowly turns to me with a serious expression.
"I promise you Tess-you're not missing out on anything." He turns his head back to the front.
"What do you mean?" I frowned, suddenly feeling at loss.
"I mean it's pointless-trying it is."
"You won't feel what it really does from the first sip, or the first couple of sips."Oh...
I nodded.
"What happened?" He frowned at the ground a little.
"You stopped valuing your health?" He throws me a glance.
"No..." I shook my head guiltily.
"But there's no harm in trying. Just to feed one's curiosity."
"It's not like I'll get addicted."
"I always have a choice." I shrugged, proud of my reply. He shrugged and cocked his head slightly to the right.
"What do you have tomorrow?" He asks and I frown a little.
"Work at eleven..." I reply.
"What time is it?" He asks and my confusion increases.
I awaken my phone's screen and read the time for him. It was eleven.
