"I don't want to wait." Adam was standing before me with his hands crossed against his chest.
"They're almost here." I chuckle tiredly.
"I'm hungry." He nods, dead serious.
I was standing before the stove were the food was kept warm in its pots.
"Adam-please..." I sigh again, unbelievably amused by his childish behavior.
"I don't have to sit at the table with you guys. I have work to do anyway." He was frowning at me.
"No-"
The door rings, coming to my savior and Nala storms out of her room to get it.
"Finally..." I sigh.
"Come on." I take Adam's arm and usher him out.
There was a story to how he stiffened every time I touched him. He made me feel mortified.
"I'll set the table. Come on." I wave for him to follow me out of the kitchen.
I make sure he gets into his room before I step into mine to change into decent clothes.
I shuffle out of my polo and leggings and slip on a light layered knee length dress with bohemian embroidery around the square chest and near the edges.
I pull my hair up into a messy high bun after brushing it and then I curl my lashes before applying some mascara.
I saw no use of wearing on any lipstick when we were about to eat anyway.
I step out of my room and meet with the others in the living room.
"Hello gorgeous." Cole places a hasty kiss on my cheek and I grin at him.
"Is Ma-"
"Yes she is. Later tonight." I chucke wiggling my eyebrows at him.
"Cool-that's cool." He grins.
"Hey Brandon." I wave at him and he musters a smile.
"Food smells really good." He remarks and I grin.
"Are you all hungry? Because we're starving..." Nala speaks and they both nod.
"Alright, let's get the table set." I jerk for Nala to follow me into the kitchen where we both start getting the dining table set.
Brandon helps us a little and Cole plays us some music outside.
"Umm-where's Adam?" Nala asks in a hushed tone.
"Oh he's coming out..." I nod once.
"He's starving." I shrug and she gulps.
As Nala and Brandon take the last plates and leave the kitchen, I froze in my place when something dawned on me.
Do Brandon and Cole know I live here?
Did Adam tell them?
Did Nala tell them?
What did they say the reason was?
What do they think of me?
I swallow a sour lump and my chest suddenly tightens.
I take a deep breath before I leave the kitchen.
They turn to me when I stand in the hallway for a couple of seconds.
"Well?" Cole chuckles.
"I'll just call Adam." I gesture a thumb back.
If they know, then I don't think they're acting different...
They're acting just the way they've acted when I first met them.
Especially Cole. Brandon is just distant these days because of his quarrel with Adam.
