Aaron's POV

I was getting ready for the game and Abigail wasn't here yet. It's not that that's bad she still has time before she's late it's more like I want to see her for some reason. I always feel more confident around her. Honestly I need confidence I've been doing awful lately and need a boost. Pretty much everyone was there except Abigail so I figured now was the time to talk about her. So I decided to bring her up.

"Do y'all know where Abigail is?" I asked trying not to blush.

"No. Why you asking, Nola?" Odubel Herrera responded.

"Oh no reason."

"Well I personally think she's hot. Who agrees?" Odubel was typically pretty hard to understand through his strong Spanish accent. But this time he was quite clear. I knew Odubel said that to all the other Spanish players when she arrived and I honestly agreed.

"Yeah." Basically the entire team agreed but me. I was too afraid to.

"What about you, Nola? You didn't agree. But I bet you really do. Abigail came back this morning   and told me you two went out. She seemed pretty pleased." Cameron questioned. I wondered what he meant by pleased. I also didn't know what to say.

"Guys I really don't think it's right we talk about her like this. It seems kinda disloyal." I could feel my face turning bright red.

"Ooooooo someone's gotta crush!" Cody teased.

"Shut up I'm allowed to defend her and not like her." I stated but they all started teasing.

"Aaron admit it you're a virgin and you haven't liked a girl since forever. You're falling for this one. You chose to defend her rather than say what you actually think." Zach who is one my friends mentioned. I was furious with for sharing the fact that I'm a virgin I haven't even kissed a girl yet I'm just to focused on baseball.

"Thanks for telling everyone, Zach! For the last time I don't like her!" I honestly don't think I like her I honestly just think she's a great friend, a pretty friend, sure but a friend.

Abigail walked in and we all just stared at her. I could tell that we were all thinking about the bizzare conversation we just had.

"Hi?" She said awkwardly and started walking over to her locker and started getting changed. She pulled off her shirt revealing a six pack and we all continued staring at the gorgeous girl getting changed in front of us.

"Oh quit staring most of you are married or have girlfriends. Now start practicing." She was very straight forward and finished changing quickly. She smiled at me and pulled me out to the field. We started stretching together and then we started playing catch and both started getting competitive. I turned my head the whole team was watching us throw together. Maybe it was because we were having so much fun doing the simplest thing in the game. Or it was because we were throughout perfect strikes to each other.

Abigail's POV

The game began like any other game. Aaron seemed anxious. I knew it was because Aaron had done awfully recently. Aaron was already losing control.

"Do any of you know what's been going on with Nola recently?" I asked Cameron since he wasn't playing today.

"No one knows. He keeps contradicting everyone's ideas."

"He can't hit can he?" I asked as Aaron struck out the second time.

"Nope. He can't do anything right now."

"I wonder if I could help." I suggested desperately wanting to have time just he and I. I really was falling for him. I loved how he was so quiet and sweet. Even when he wasn't  at his best he was pretty cute. I knew I was falling for him and there was nothing I could do. Suddenly there was warmth next to me. I turned my head and saw a miserable Aaron. God he looked so cute when he was sad!

"Hi Aaron." I don't know what made me do it but I wrapped my arm around his shoulders and massaged his pitching shoulder.

"Coach took me out before the sixth inning again." He said disappointed. Suddenly he shrugged my arm off.

"I know. Maybe I could help."

"But you're a rookie."

"A rookie who's just like you. I could solve it I know I can I know this game better than anyone."

"Fine."  I smiled I knew he didn't like me but I still wanted to help him, he is my friend.

After the game which we lost, we all got changed silently. My phone started exploding with notifications. I checked my Twitter and was shocked.

@BaseballGirl356 is it true you like someone on the @Phillies?

@BaseballGirl356 is it @AaronNola10 ?

@AaronNola10 what's your opinion on dating Abigail Smith?

@Phillies if any of you wanted to date Abigail she is already in love with @AaronNola10

All the tweets were from my best friend. I stared at my phone in total shock. The other players started checking their phones. Then Aaron looked on his by this point everyone was staring at me. I watched in horror as Aaron read the tweets. I was bright red. I immediately called Jackie.

"What is wrong with you?!" I yelled into the phone everyone watched in silence. "Do you want to end my career? Do you want them to treat me differently?"

"Abigail I'm sorry I didn't mean to."

"Oh! So it was an accident that you lied and said I liked Aaron?"

"But you-"

"I never said I liked him! I told you I can't focus on boys I can't date. There's a reason I've never had a boyfriend or never been kissed. It's because I could never love anyone more than baseball. I can't be your friend anymore!" I hung up without her response. Aaron looked at me kindly but I looked away. I was so embarrassed.

"Is it true?" Aaron asked quietly.

"No." I responded as believable as possible. I wished it was true. Then I quickly tweeted a confirmation that I didn't like Aaron. He didn't look disappointed or anything.

"Well... Goodnight my lady!" He kissed my hand again grinned a goofy adorable grin. I giggled again.

"Goodnight my gentleman!" I kissed his hand back and left. No one seemed to care anymore. The problem was, now Aaron would ever know the truth, that I had a crush on him.
