Valentines Day. The best day for couples, the worst day for singles. It was the best of times, it was the worst of times pretty much sums the day up. Alice had Frank, Marlene was currently dating some Ravenclaw chaser - Max Gallegar - and Hestia had snagged a date to Hogsmeade as well. Lily was alone. Amos Diggory had tried to ask her again, but she declined. He was a very good looking boy, but Lily knew had already dated him once. She wouldn't do it again.

She sat in the Great Hall, decked in little hearts on the tables and pink foods. "Being single sucks sometimes," she said to Marlene.

"Hey, James asked you to Hosgmeade and you turned him down. Twice."

Lily rolled her eyes, glancing at Potter and his cronies who were huddled over a large piece of parchment. "That's different. That's Potter."

"Mhm." Marlene gave Lily that look. The look she gave when she didn't believe Lily really hated James. It was a mix of raised eyebrows and a smirk, showing off her large dimples. "Whatever you say Lils. I'll see you later, are you going or staying?"

"Well I don't really need anything at Hogsmeade and seeing as couples will be snogging every shop - I think I'll stay. Go have fun, if you don't jump Gallegar I'll be very mad, Marlene."

Marlene laughed. "Okay have fun Lils. I'll try to snog him, but he's been taking things very slow lately. I wonder if he's a virgin."

Lily rolled her eyes and waved her off. She picked at her eggs, her eyes wandering back over to the Marauders. In a second, they all turned their heads and looked at her. Lily blushed at being caught staring and quickly looked away. "Fuck...can't they find something else to look at?"

Her hair worked as a curtain between her face and the four boys. She snuck a glance and let out a sigh of relief that they were back to focusing on the piece of parchment. She didn't know what was so fascinating about it. They weren't writing on it and it was completely blank from what she could tell. Letting her curiosity get the best of her, she pushed away her plate and sauntered over to them. She could hear their harsh whispers. "It needs to be clever," Remus said. "It's got to be catchy," Sirius added. "Easy to remember," Peter piped. "Shh, Evans is coming!" James muttered.

Sirius covered the parchment subtly and smiled at her across the table, "Hello Evans."

"What's that?" she asked, sitting beside Remus.

"What's what?"

"That." She made a grab for the parchment but Sirius immediately snatched it away.

"It's nothing," James said. "Have you done something new? Did you grow an inch? You seem taller."

"I'm sitting. But that's not the point. What're you hiding?"

"Nothing Lily." He snatched the mysterious paper from Sirius and handed it to Lily. "It's empty. Sirius has a possession issue."

Sirius nodded and wrapped an arm around James, messing his hair up. "Especially with Prongs. I don't like sharing him, Evans."

Lily rolled her eyes and examined the paper. It was blank. She did believe Sirius's possession issue, but she couldn't understand why he would be so defensive over it. She picked it up and both James and Sirius bit their knuckles to keep from grabbing it back. Lily stared at them, testing to see how far they would go to protect this important document. She made to rip it (with no actual intention of doing so) and James and Sirius both leaped out of their seats to grab it. Lily smirked, pulling away.

"Lily, it's really nothing," Remus said calmly. "Sirius and James have this fascination over it - they found it on the ground earlier and picked it up."
