In A Matter Of Seconds [Under Editing]

Chapter 12

When Barry woke up, the first thing he noticed was a weight on his chest. He looked down to see the head of Emely, who had fallen asleep quickly. Barry gave a small smile before settling to wake the sleeping girl.

"Emely." She fluttered her eyes open to find Barry staring back at her.

"You liar." Barry sighed.

"You said you were fine, but guess what? You're not." Barry nodded.

"I know." Emely pursed her lips.

She placed a hand on Barry's cheek.

"How do you feel?" He shrugged.

"I feel normal." Emely helped Barry up onto his feet and they started to head back into the building when Iris stopped them.

"Barry, Emily, where did you go? I looked for the both of you but you guys were gone." Emely looked at Barry, seeing if he would reply.

"I tried going after them to get their license plates, but they were too fast and I fainted." Iris seemed to believe that, so they all went back inside.

Eddie and Joe were already inside, trying to see if they could find any evidence as to who had caused they commotion minutes before. Upon seeing his only daughter, Joe let out a breath of relief as he saw that she was okay.

"Iris, where were you? Are you okay?" Iris nodded at her father.

"I'm okay, dad." Joe hugged his daughter tightly

"Where were you two?" Eddie asked Barry and Emely.

"Barry tried going after the guys but he fainted. He couldn't get the plates in time." Eddie nodded slowly.

"Do you need a paramedic, Allen?" Barry shook his head.

"No, thank you. I'm fine."

Close by, the guard that Barry had saved was being interviewed. Emely listened closely to he was saying.

"I thought I was dead. I saw the gun go off and then boom. Suddenly, I'm outside. I have no idea how I got there." After hearing this, Joe looked at Barry and Emely.

Emely looked at Barry who knew that Joe knew who had saved the guard.

"Let me talk to both of you for a second." Emely and Barry hesitantly followed Joe away from Iris and Eddie.

"You chased those gunmen?" Barry nodded.

"Those might be the same guys from the gun store." Emely looked at Barry.

"What gun store? Are you okay? Did you get hurt?" Barry grabbed Emely's hands and held them.

"It wasn't a shooting. It was a crime scene." Emely nodded.

Suddenly, she slapped Barry's arm.

"Ow, what'd you do that for?" Barry rubbed the spot where she had hit him.

"You made me worry about you." Joe took mental note that Emely is always worried about Barry.

"Barry, what were you gunna do when you caught these guys? Ask them nicely to pull over? You aren't bulletproof. Is he bulletproof?" Emely shook her head.

"No, he isn't. But Joe's right Bare. You can't go out to risk your life like that." Barry sighed.

"No more heroics, Barry. Chasing bad guys is my job, not yours. You aren't a cop. Promise me that you won't do this ever again." Barry sighed.

"Promise." Joe turned to Emely.

"Promise me that you'll keep him from breaking that." Emely nodded.

"I promise." Joe turned back to Barry.

"You know Iris is not stupid. Make up better excuses than 'I fainted.' She's smarter than that." The pair watched as Joe walked away.

"But he did faint though." Barry shook his head and they began walking to the exit.

"I think we should take a taxi. We can't risk you fainting again." Barry nodded.

Emely hailed a taxi and they both got in.

"We meet again." Emely looked at the taximan, who was indeed the same taximan that had taken her to S.T.A.R Labs.

"Oh, hi. I'm Emely and this is Barry." Barry smiled at the taximan.

"I'm Paul. Nice to meet you Barry. Is Emely your girlfriend?" Barry looked at Emely who was looking back at him.

"No, she's just a friend." Paul nodded as he took them to S.T.A.R Labs.

They were all quiet throughout the ride, seeing as Barry didn't want to say anything. They got to S.T.A.R Labs and Emely paid Paul.

"Keep the change." Paul smiled at Emely before driving off.

Barry waited for Emely and they began walking inside of S.T.A.R Labs.

"Emely, Barry. What are you doing here?" Emely looked at Barry who knew Caitlin would be mad at him.

"Do you want me to tell her?" Barry nodded.

"Tell me what?" Emely sighed

"Barry chased these guys with masks and he fainted." Caitlin looked at Barry.

Caitlin opened her mouth to yell at Barry, but Emely stopped her.

"I already yelled at him." Caitlin was quiet for a second.

"You lied to us." Barry sighed as Caitlin started to check up on Barry.

"How could you not tell us you were experiencing dizzy spells? We're your doctors. God knows what's going on inside of you. You were lucky that Emely was there. Your cells are in a state of flux. You could be experiencing cardiopulmonary failure, or a transient ischemic attack." Barry looked at me.

"Mini stroke. Probably not." Caitlin glared at Barry.

"You of all people should know that in science we do not keep secrets from each other." Caitlin stormed out of the Cortex.

"Wow, I haven't anybody make her this angry since Ronnie." Hearing that name, Emely remembered that was Caitlin fiancé.

"Now, Barry Allen, what did we learn from Caitlin's rant?" Barry sighed.

"To never say that I'm fine without checking first." Emely smiled at him.

"Good boy." Barry looked at her.

"Am I a dog now?" Emely giggled.

"A very adorable puppy." Barry smiled at her.

Dr. Wells noticed the interactions between these two and realized that Barry and Emely are starting to get closer to one another. Then, they might start having feelings for each other and then they'll end up dating. Emely, in Dr. Wells' eyes, will end up being a weakness for Barry. All the meta-humans will see this as an advantage for them and they'll use Emely as a leverage for Barry. Dr. Wells wants Emely and Barry to not get so close, but he can't change what the heart wants. In his head, Dr. Wells started to think of a plan for Emely and Barry to start being distant from one another, but he had no luck.

Barry and Emely were oblivious to the stare Dr. Wells was giving them. In her mind, Emely was reminded that Barry likes, loves, Iris. Emely knows that she wouldn't have a chance with Barry, not that she'd want one anyway.

Barry, on the other hand, sees Emely as a friend. Everyone knows this already. Barry loves Iris. He keeps telling himself that he is in love with Iris, even though his heart has moved on to a certain blue eyed girl.

The saddest part is that both are oblivious to their growing feelings for each other. The slightest thought of liking each other has them denying the feelings they secretly have.

Cisco, Caitlin, Dr. Wells, Joe, Iris, and everyone that sees them knows that they have some type of feeling for one another.

The only question is, when will they admit it?
