In A Matter Of Seconds [Under Editing]

Chapter 23

"How long was it missing?" Everyone stared at Cisco, waiting for an answer. 

After Barry and Felicity left, Cisco, Caitlin, Emely and Dr. Wells found out that something had been taken from S.T.A.R Labs. Cisco stared at the empty cage.

"I don't know." Dr. Wells continued to stare at Cisco.

"I'm gunna ask you again and when I do, I expect a more specific answer. Now, how long has this weapon been gone?" Emely turned to Cisco

"It's a weapon?" Cisco jut stared at the empty cage. 

"Yes, and it's been gone for a day. Maybe two. One janitor didn't show up this morning. He was probably the one who took it. I didn't think that-" Dr. Wells reached up and slammed the cage door, making Emely flinch.

"You didn't think. Because if you had, you would have discussed with me first your design to build something that could hurt anyone, and in particular Barry Allen." Emely widened her eyes

"I'm so sorry. If you just let me explain-" Dr. Wells cut him off

"You know how I feel about weapons, Cisco. They don't belong in S.T.A.R Labs. Now, you're gunna figure out a way to locate this gun, and you're gunna do it right now." Dr. Wells rolled away and Emely turned to Cisco. 

"This thing you built. What can it do?" Cisco sighed.

"Bad stuff." Emely's phone started buzzing

It was Joe saying that she was needed at the address he sent her because that was Snart's location and were heading out. Emely said goodbye and headed to the station to get changed. She quickly got changed and headed out. Emely saw Joe going into a museum and followed after him. The two headed further inside and found Snart with a gun and Barry hiding from him. Snart saw the two detectives and fired at them. Barry quickly went over and sped them to safety.  As he was saving them, Barry got hit instead.

"Are you okay?" Emely went over to Barry 

"It burns." He groaned in pain. 

"Time for a little test run. Let's see how fast you are." Snart started at random people. 

Barry saved them all, except for the last person Snart fired at. Barry ran as fast as he could, but he was too late. Barry and Emely crouched down around the frozen body.

"No." Emely put her arm around Barry's shoulder.

"Barry." He shook his head.

"No." He whispered as Emely placed her head on his shoulder. 

They went back to S.T.A.R Labs where Caitlin checked Barry's burn.

"It's still numb." Emely stared at Barry's burn

"It's like a third-degree frostbite." Emely tore her eyes away from it. 

"I thought he had hyper-healing." 

"It's been slowed. If your cells weren't regenerating at the rate that they are, your blood vessels would've been frozen soild. The damage would've been permanent. You're lucky to be alive." Barry got off the table. 

"Snart wasn't another meta-human. He has some kind of gun. It froze things. It slowed me down. Enough that I wasn't able to save someone." Emely looked at Barry as he sighed.

"According to his records, Snart never finished high school. So how did he build a handheld, high-tech snow machine." Emely looked at Cisco who was looking at her. 

Emely then thought of the gun that was stolen. 

"S.T.A.R Labs built it." Emely looked at Dr. Wells.
