In A Matter Of Seconds [Under Editing]

Chapter 27

"13 fractures. That's a new record. And that's just in your hand." Emely sat in a chair in front of the computers and sighed. 

"You also have a concussion, three cracked ribs and a bruised spleen." Emely's breath hitched and she became really worried. 

"I'm glad Emely was there by your side and help you on the bed." The young doctor glanced at the short brunette and sighed. 

She could tell Emely was worried. The way she stared at the computer with nothing on it and the way she put her hands in front of her mouth gave it away. Caitlin looked at Barry and motioned at Emely. 

Barry sighed as he also knew that Emely was worried about him. He liked that Emely cared for him the way he did for her. 

"What exactly did you hit?" 

"A man. A big, bad man." Dr. Wells looked at Emely. 

"Is that right, Ms. Hart?" Barry nudged Caitlin when she didn't reply. 

"Can you guys give me a minute alone with her?" Caitlin nodded and dragged Cisco out with her and Dr. Wells rolled behind them.

"Em, come here." She didn't move. 

"Baby, I get that you're worried about me, but this is part of being a hero." She looked at him 

"I shouldn't have to worry if you're gunna-" She stopped.

"If I'm gunna what?" She sighed

"If you're gunna die." Barry's heart broke as he saw she was getting upset.

"Em, come here. Please." She did as he said and hid her face in his shoulder.

"I'm not gunna die." He stroked her hair.

"You don't know that." He lifted her head with his good arm. 

"Listen to me, I'm not going to die. I have Caitlin, Cisco, Dr. Wells, Joe, Iris and Eddie. But most importantly, I have you. As long as I have everyone by my side, I won't die." Emely smiled at him before pecking his lips. 

"I'm going to be fine." She nodded. 

Emely went to tell Caitlin, Cisco and Dr. Wells that they could come back in.

"He said something that was familiar. He gunna hurt someone so how do I fight someone who's made of steel?" 

"We'll find a way. Tonight, you heal." Barry nodded.

"Yeah." Emely stayed with Barry until he got better. 

After he healed, Barry and Emely went to CCPD to find Joe.

"Hey, what happened to you? What happened to him?" Emely sighed

"He got beat up by a man of steel." 

"Superman?" Emely shook her head.

"No, although Superman is my number 1 favorite superhero." Barry cleared his throat.

"I got beat up by a steel-plated sociopath. Good times." 

"So he's a meta-human?" Joe said in a low voice. 

"Yeah." 

"That particle accelerator is the gift that keeps giving. You okay?" Barry nodded

"Relatively. Any idea of who this guy is?" Joe shook his head.

"Eddie's taking point while I run down a lead. I need you and Emely to help him." 

"Why us?" Emely rolled her eyes.
