Imagine being at a party with a friend and being extraordinarily shy. You sat quietly next to the group of people and sipped on your drink, completely unaware of the conversation that was occurring across the room. Roger stood next to Pete with wide eyes and a huge smile plastered to his face as he watched you silently observe the room full of people.
"God, she is absolutely gorgeous," Roger said to himself.
Pete set his drink down and followed Roger's gaze to you, "That one?" He said as he lifted his hand to point to you, his words slightly slurred as he had had quite a bit to drink.
Roger nodded as he reached over to stop Pete from pointing, still keeping his eyes on you and still smiling like an idiot.
"Yeah, yeah, that's (y/n), I've seen her around. Sweet girl, she's not usually one for parties though," Pete said.
"Her names (y/n)?" Roger asked, barely even looking away to glance at Pete.
Pete nodded in response as he took another chug of his drink.
"Right," Roger said as he met your eyes and saw you smile, "well, wish me luck."
He made his way over to you, his heart pounding nervously against his chest as he came closer. He felt butterflies swarm his stomach when you looked up to see him and gave him a warm smile.
"Hello," he said, that bright smile of his gracing his face as he spoke, "I'm Roger."
You let out a bit of a giggle as you held out your hand to shake his, "Hello, Roger, I'm (y/n)."
"I know," he said, but quickly stuttering so he wouldn't so creepy, "I- well, I mean, I've heard about you."
"That's funny, I didn't think you'd be the one saying you've heard of me, shouldn't it be the other way around?"
"I suppose you've got a point," he said.
There was a silence in which he studied you, your smile, your eyes and the way you held yourself. He couldn't help but admire you and before he could stop himself, he was telling you.
"You're so beautiful," he said just loudly enough for you to hear him.
Your eyes lit up as your face turned red in response. You shook your head and looked down to hide the shy smile that was spreading across your face.
"Don't deny it," he said as he placed his hand under your chin to lift your gaze towards him, "I mean it, you really are."
He held his hand there, keeping your eyes on him, enjoying the silence that you two had. He took his opportunity to lean in. You felt your heart start to race as he came closer to you, and just before you felt overwhelmed with nervousness you felt his lips touch your cheek. You smiled at the sweetness of it and as he pulled away you couldn't stop yourself from speaking.
"I'd really love to see you again," you blurted out, "I mean, that is, well if you'd want to see me again."
He gave you a warm smile, but tried to hide how excited he actually was, "I would really love that too," he said and then sat down next to you, "but if you don't mind, I don't think this party will be very much fun without you next to me, so I think I'll stay here."
You lit up as he scooted his chair closer to you, "I wouldn't mind at all."
