October in England has proven to be very cold so far, one of my least favorite things about it. Fall is my favorite season but when the weather gets too cold I feel that I can no longer enjoy it. Even as I sat in the great hall the morning of the first Quidditch game of the year, I felt as if I were slightly shivering. Last night Marlene insisted on keeping the window open, which just so happened to be right next to my bed. I still felt cold from the night air.

Everyone else I must say seemed more enthusiastic than I did. First of all, the weekend brings loads of excitement with it, but as I mentioned before today is the first Quidditch game. Gryffindor vs. Slytherin. I saw a lot of the team members already up and fed, talking to many people in groups about how excited they were to play in the match today. Even James and Sirius were up early this morning and ready to go.

Lily and I sat alone together at the table that morning. Marlene hasn't been feeling well so she insisted we let her sleep in. She isn't much of a Quidditch fan anyways. Alice, on the other hand, has shut herself away in the library for the morning to write a perfect essay for charms, which I might add is due at the end of the week. Alice's time management sometimes scares me.

"Hey, Ella!" A happy voice cheered from beside me as Sadie sat down next to me, disrupting my thoughts. I smiled down at her.

"Hey, kiddo. Are you excited to watch your first Quidditch match at Hogwarts?" I asked her, fixing her hair a little bit because it looked kinda messy today. She rolled her eyes and pulled away from my hands to keep me from touching her head.

"Yes, I am! My friends and I are all really excited" she bounced up and down in her seat. "Even Sybill, whom I didn't expect to be that into it"

"Sybill?" Lily piped up. "That name sounds familiar"

"Sybill Trelawney. She's two years older than I am but she's one of my best friends. She's in my house" Sadie nodded her head. Lily looked up in realization.

"That's right! She was being considered for the Slug Club but I think Slughorn is waiting a year or two until she is older" Lily explained and I was happy to hear that Sadie was surrounding herself with good people like that.

"What about that boy that's always following you around? He's in your year, isn't he? The one with the blond hair?" I asked her and she made a face of disgust.

"Ugh, Gilderoy Lockhart. No, he's a year above me. Honestly, my friends and I all find him completely and utterly annoying. He bothers everyone only to boast about a good grade he got on a test or a new spell he's learned. I think he has a few friends though...." She trailed off, trying to think about it.

"Well, are you friends with anyone your age?" Lily chuckled and Sadie nodded happily.

"There's my friend Annie. We're in the same dorm as Sybill, as well as Fran and Lacey" She beamed at us. I buttered a piece of toast and handed it to her. She squinted her eyes at it then shook her head. "I can butter my own toast you know. My hands work just fine" she rolled her eyes but took the piece of bread anyways.

"I just wanna make sure you're eating breakfast. I don't get to see you all the time to check up on you" I shrugged.

"Thank Merlin for that" she mumbled as she took a bite of her toast and my head shot back over to her.

"This is coming from the same girl who almost cried the first day because she thought she would never see me again?" I raised my eyebrows and she blushed, looking embarrassed.

"That's only because I didn't think I would make friends!" She defended herself. "But you suffocate me sometimes. I'm glad I don't see you every day" she glared at me and I felt a pang in my chest.
