Unexpected

Chapter 17

4 weeks later...

I actually can't believe that I am 28 weeks pregnant. Another 10 weeks or so and I'll baby girl will be here. Also in another two weeks I can take maternity leave. Normally I would say that I don't want maternity leave but I have been really busy at work the last six weeks and it would be so nice and relax and make sure everything is okay with our baby girl.

It was about 6am. I couldn't sleep because the baby was kicking. I remember a few days after we found out we were having a baby girl we felt the baby kick.

"CORY! We are going to be late," I called.

"I'm coming,"

We were going out for dinner together as we hadn't done it in a while and both of us didn't fancy cooking. I put my flat shoes on as Cory wouldn't let me where heels anymore. I understood where he was coming from and if I was completely honest then I didn't want to where them anyway. Flats were okay for now.

I stood at the front door ready and I was waiting for Cory to finish getting ready. He rushed down the stairs nearly tripping. He got to the bottom and smiled "I'm so sorry I couldn't decide what to wear," he smiled.

"How did I get ready before you?"

"I don't know but you look beautiful. You always do,"

"It's just a maternity dress,"

"But it's beautiful,"

I kissed him softly and then he put his hands on my waist "How about celebrating tonight when we get back from eating?"

"Mmm... Maybe,"

"I'll take that as you're going to tease me all night,"

"Maybe,"

He giggled and kissed me again. I pulled away when I felt some movement in my stomach.

"You okay Jen?"

"Yeah I'm fine," I smiled.

"Why are you smiling?"

I grabbed his hand and placed it on my stomach. His eyes lit up and turned towards me "Is that what I think it is?"

"Yes,"

"It's amazing,"

"I never thought it would feel like this,"

"It does,"

"It's better than when we felt the baby moving,"

"Yeah it is,"

That night we were so happy and we did celebrate at home alone together. It was the best night ever. Anyway back to the present day. Sleeping was getting bad now. I could never get comfy and then that stopped me from sleeping.

I got out of bed and went to get myself a hot chocolate. Once I had made it I sat on the sofa and just drank my drink. I left Cory in bed to sleep. He always told me if I couldn't sleep to wake him up but I didn't want to do that.

Once I had finished my hot chocolate I put the TV on quietly and I lay back on the sofa and pulled a blanket over myself. I began rubbing my stomach as I could feel the baby kicking.

Somebody was shaking me. I opened my eyes to see Cory "Jen... Sweetheart. Wake up," he said.

"I'm sorry. I must have fallen asleep,"

"What happened?"

"I woke up early and then I came down for a hot chocolate and lay on here and then I must have fallen asleep,"
