Unexpected

Chapter 34

It had been a few weeks since I met with Emma and she told me about her and Mark. I was meeting with her again today for a play date before having the evening with Cory while our Mum's looked after Evelyn. 

I got Evelyn ready and myself dressed. Cory and Lea were at work and had left a few hours ago. I got us in the car and then drove to Emma's. When we arrived at Emma's we went inside and I hugged her "Hey how are things?" I asked her. 

"Mark and I talked the other night and got everything out the open. He understood that I was upset about the fact he wanted to take the twins to the nursery and I didn't want them going. Then we talked about me having sex with some one else and I told him that I just did it because I was hurt and drunk. I think he is slowly forgiving me," 

"That's good,"

"Would you like a coffee?"

"Yes please,"

Emma went to make some coffee's and sat in the living room and the twins and Evelyn were all playing together in the play pen. I looked at them and smiled. Emma came in with the coffee's and we sat together on the sofas.

"How's things going with your Mum?" 

"She's having treatment. She doesn't want me going with her because she doesn't want me to see her in pain. I want to be there for her. She's my Mum,"

"Maybe you just need a chat. In her way she might be protecting you,"

"I don't need protecting. Not anymore. I lost my Dad with no warning and I just can't let that happen with Mum,"

"They said it's curable right?"

"Yeah if they can shrink the tumour so they can operate but there are other options if that doesn't work,"

"Everything is going to be okay,"

"I really hope so. So you and Mark are much better then?"

"Yeah we are. We talked about things and got everything out in the open. He still doesn't want to kiss or touch me but I understand that. We still love each other. It was just a blip that we are working through,"

"I'm glad because you two are such a perfect couple. You've been through a lot with your first pregnancy and with the twins too. I mean when we first met you were in hospital," 

"I know and all those reminders are both good for us. It shows us we are strong,"

I finished my coffee and Mark came in the room. I smiled at him "Hello Mark," I said. 

"Hi Jen. How are you?" he asked. 

"Good thank you. How are you?"

"I'm good thanks,"

Mark and Emma looked at each other and Mark went into the kitchen. He came back with a box. He then went over to the twins and kissed each of them "I forgot my lunch," he said to Emma. Mark went over to Emma and kissed her softly on the cheek "I'll see you later. I love you," he told her. 

Emma smiled softly at him"I love you too," she whispered. 

Mark left and looked at Emma "Things can't be that bad," I told her. 

"Yeah doesn't seem as bad as it was,"

"Emma he loves you. That's clear. He adores you,"

"I love him too Jen. I love him so much that it's hard to feel it all at the same time,"

Time went on and I saw it was 3pm. I looked over at Evelyn who was in the play pen lay on her back. I smiled at Emma "I should get her home for her nap," I told her.
