Unexpected

Chapter 2

My eyes began to flicker open. I didn't know where I was and I wasn't sure what was going on. When my eyes were fully open they began to search around the room and my eyes went to the only person in the room. Cory.

"Sweetie are you okay?"

"What happened?"

"You don't remember?"

"No. I don't remember much anyway,"

"You were in a car accident,"

"I'm in pain,"

"I'll get the Doctor,"

Cory left and I began to wonder about the baby. Was the baby okay? When the Doctor came in he asked Cory to stay outside while he spoke to me and he helped me. The Doctor put a drip up for me and then turned to me.

"We did some blood tests when we brought you in to make sure everything was okay and to see if you need any sort of medication and we found you are pregnant. However we would like to do a scan just to make sure everything is okay,"

"Yeah okay. Thank you,"

"Okay we'll take you for a scan soon when we it's avaliable,"

He finished setting up the drip and he left me alone. Cory was soon to come in and he looked at him "What did the Doctor say?"

"Nothing really just that if I need anything to call the nurse and he'd come see me tomorrow,"

I turned to the clock to see it was 2:00am. I was beginning to feel very tired and I noticed that Cory was yawning. I wish he would go home and then I could get some rest and have the scan done to see if my baby was okay. The pain was beginning to go away too thanks to the medication the Doctor gave me.

"Go home and get some rest. I'll be okay,"

"Okay well if you are sure,"

"I'm sure,"

"I'll pop by in a few hours, we have the day off anyway,"

"Okay. Bye,"

"Bye sweetie,"

When Cory left the nurse came in to say they were going to take me for my scan now. When I got there I lifted my t-shirt up and he began to do the scan. I watched him doing the scan and when he had done it he looked at me and began to talk.

"The baby is okay,"

"Okay. Thank you,"

"No problem. We'll take you back to your room now and you can get some rest,"

They took me back to my room and I lay down and got some sleep. During the night I dreamt about the car accident and it woke me up a few times. Each time I woke up I felt myself rubbing my stomach.

When I woke up in the morning I saw a nurse bring me in some breakfast. I remember a patient once telling me about how she hated the food. I sat up in my bed and saw Emma walk past. When she saw me in my room she came in "What happened?" she asked.

"Car accident. A car went into me at the lights so they tell me,"

"You don't remember?"

"It's all a bit hazy,"

"How you feeling?"

"Sore and in pain. I understand patients now when they say they hate hospitals because being here right now makes me just want to be at home,"

"What about the baby?"

"I had a scan last night and the baby is okay thank god. I remember in the car feeling a pain in my stomach and down my side. I thought I had lost the baby,"

"That's good,"

"Anyway what are you doing out of bed?"

"This place is driving me crazy. It was okay when I had you as my nurse because you took the time to talk to me my nurse doesn't,"

I saw Cory coming into my eye line. He said he was coming back to see me in the morning. Emma saw me looking and she turned around seeing Cory "I guess that's Cory. You told him yet?"

"No,"

"Jen you really should,"

"I know I should and I will soon. Imagine if I had told him though and lost the baby. He would be in so much pain I know he would,"

"I guess. I better get going but get better soon,"

"Yeah you too Emma,"

Emma left and then Cory came in and brought me some flowers "How are you feeling?" he asked.

I was sick of people asking me that question but then I guess everyone who did just cared about and were worried about me "Better,"

"That's good. I spoke to your Mum she said that she wishes you get better soon and if you need anything to ring her,"

"Okay thanks,"

"Are you sure you're okay. You've been quiet ever since last night,"

"I'm fine honestly. I just want to go home,"

 6 hours later... (4:00pm)

My Doctor, Doctor Jones came in to see me. He said some time during the day he would get round to me to see about me going home. When he came into the room he checked my stats and then he looked at me.

"Well you are improving but you are still in some pain so in the morning I will clear you to leave,"

"Thank you Doctor,"

"No problem. I suggest you get some rest while you are in here okay,"

Once he had left I noticed that Cory slipped out the room to get himself some coffee. This gave me the opportunity to ring my Mother. I picked up my phone and dialled her number.

Mum: Hello.

Me: Hello Mum.

Mum: Hi sweetheart. Cory rang me. Are you okay?

Me: I'm better than I was. Listen the Doctor cleared me to leave but I need a lot of rest so I wondered if I got on a plane and come to you if I could stay for a while.

Mum: Yes of course you can.

Me: Thank you Mum.

Mum: Sweetheart what about Cory. You have him at home.

Me: I know I do but I need some time away for a bit and I need to talk to you.

Mum: Okay well I'll see you tomorrow then.

Me: Bye Mum.

Mum: Bye sweetheart.

I put the phone down and then ordered myself a plane ticket for tomorrow lunch time so I could go home to my Mother. One thing I needed to do now was tell Cory I was leaving for a few weeks.
