Unexpected

Chapter 22

Evelyn and I had a nice cuddle in my Dad's chair while Cory and his parents talked. When it went all quiet I went downstairs and I then walked into the living room "Is everything okay?" I asked.

Cory looked at me "It's all fine," he began "We've talked and they have agreed to stay for a few days,".

"That's brilliant. Where are your parents?"

"They've gone to find a hotel to stay somewhere tonight,"

"No they aren't,"

"What?"

"They are staying in the spare room,"

"Are you sure?"

"Of course now call them,"

Cory went to call his parents and so I thought I'd find some recipes so that I could cook tonight for everyone. I put Evelyn in her cot in the living room and she was with Cory so I went to the kitchen and got the cook books out. I decided on making chicken curry with rice.

When I reached the living room once again I saw Cory with Evelyn lay on the sofa and she was lay on her tummy on his chest. It looked so cute "So what did they say?" I asked.

"They are on their way back,"

"Right okay. Listen I need to pop to the shops and get some stuff,"

"Your not allowed to do a lot of walking and you aren't allowed to drive because of your stiches,"

"Fine your Mother can take me. Evelyn can stay with you or we can take her and you can spend some time with your Father,"

"I'll have Evelyn with me and okay. Thank you. I'd like to spend some time with my Dad,"

"I knew it,"

Lea and Harry came back and Cory took their stuff to the spare bedroom "Lea I wondered if you would drive me to the supermarket so I can get some stuff for dinner tonight,"

"Yes of course sweetheart," Lea said to me.

I grabbed my bag, coat and shoes and then I kissed Cory and then kissed Evelyn's cheek "We wont be long see you later,"

"Jennifer... I love you," Cory whispered.

"I love you too,"

I then went shopping with Lea. I got into the car and we drove together "How come you aren't allowed to drive and walk much?" she asked.

"I... There was complications when I had Evelyn and they had to open me up to get her out and of course I have stiches still so everything is still sore. I try not to think about it too much,"

"Oh... I am sorry,"

"It's fine. It saved Evelyn's life and so I am happy,"

"You're such a strong woman Jennifer. You are perfect for Cory,"

"Thank you,"

"So how did you guys meet?"

"I qualified as a nurse at the same time Cory qualified as a doctor and we happened to work on the same ward together in the hospital near here. We both hit it off and we turned best friends. We spent a lot of time together and were friends before any of this happened,"

"Did you not like him when you were friends?"

"God yes. At the time everyone was calling me Jennifer and when he called it me I had butterfly's in my stomach and that's when I nicknames myself Jen because then I wouldn't feel that. Now though he's started calling me Jennifer again and it's giving my butterfly's again,"
