Unexpected

Chapter 20

2 days later...

Evelyn was finally able to home today. Cory and I could have 3 days with her before his parents arrived. I couldnt wait to meet them but then again I was scared they would say that I wasnt good enough for their son.

Cory and I were on our way to the hosptial. Since Evelyn had been getting better we decided to go home at night and get some sleep because soon she would need feeding every night and we would have to have our strength to get up.

We arrived at the hospital and went up to where Evelyn was. I saw the Doctor and the Nurse in with her and when Cory and I stepped inside we saw the nurse dressing Evelyn in some clothes we had bought in a few days ago "Hi," I said.

The Doctor smiled "Hello. Home time today for the little one," he said.

"Yeah we are so excited to have her coming home,"

"Yeah I could imagine. There are just a few things we need to go through before you leave,"

"Okay,"

Cory and I sat down in the chairs and we waited for the Doctor to talk to us.

"Evelyn is strong now so we started her on milk last night and she seems to be taking that well so she will need feeding like you would a normal baby now. Also she needs to come in once every two weeks here for a check up to make sure everything is as it should be and if there is anything wrong then feel free to come in and we can check her over,"

"Okay. Thank you Doctor,"

"My pleasure. I'll get the paper work for you so we can discharge her,"

He left the room and the nurse put Evelyn in the car seat we had left here for when we were going to take her home "Thank you," I said.

"No problem. Good luck with everything,"

"Thank you," both Cory and I said.

The Doctor came back in and he got us to sign the paper work. I then looked at him "Doctor has she been given formula milk?" I asked.

"Yes but you prefer to breast feed then thats okay as long as your body is up for that then that would be okay,"

"Okay thank you,"

"No problem,"

He left us alone with our baby girl. Cory picked up Evelyn in her car seat and we walked out together. I was so glad that this moment was finally happening.

When we arrived home I carried Evelyn into the house and I took her out of the car seat and held her in my arms. This was my first time holding her. I then remembed that Cory hadnt. He walked into the room and I smiled at him "Want to hold your baby girl?" I asked.

"Yeah,"

Cory took her from my arms and as soon as she touched his arms his face lit up. This is what we had been waiting for. We were so happy and nothing could ruin that anymore. The pain of a few weeks was not there anymore.

He sat down on the sofa and spent ages holding her "I'll go and make some coffee," I said.

"Okay. Thank you,"

"It's okay,"

I went into the kitchen and made some coffee's. All we needed to do was get married and everything would be perfect. I wanted to be Mrs Jennifer Harvey so badly. I had the engagement ring on but not a wedding ring.

Pulling myself out of my thoughts I walked towards the living room and I could hear some talking "Now listen Evelyn I love your Mummy so much and we are getting married soon hopefully. Her Mummy and best friends are helping me plan a wedding so we can get married in a few months but dont tell her,"
