Unexpected

Chapter 36

A few weeks later...

I sat on the edge of mine and Cory's bed. I had been feeling a bit sick for the past few days. Luckily I still had a week later of my maternity leave. Cory and Lea thought I was just unwell but the truth was I thought I could be pregnant. All the sex that Cory and I recently had I was surprised I hadn't got pregnant quicker. Lea and Cory has gone to work so I got Evelyn ready and we went to the pharmacy. 

I stood in the pharmacy looking at all the different pregnancy tests. I picked up three different ones and I went to pay for them. I stuck them in my handbag and then Evelyn and I made our way to see Emma. 

As we got to Emma's house I knocked on the door and she let us in. I put Evelyn down on the play mat and she lay with the twins playing. Emma and I made some tea and she sat down with me "So Mrs? This is an unexpected visit. I thought we were grabbing coffee's tomorrow?" she asked me.

I reached into my handbag pulling out the three pregnancy tests I bought "I think I'm pregnant," I said. 

"Wow. Cory thought you had the sickness bug the past few days,"

"Yeah I know he did. I let him believe it because if I am pregnant then it's not even my baby is it. It's Lea's," 

"You need to know for sure. Go do them. I'm here for you,"

I nodded. I went to the bathroom doing all tests. I brought them down with me and sat next to Emma and she put the timer on. I sat for the 5 minutes shaking my leg. The timer went off and I looked at the tests in front of me. 

"You want me to look?" Emma asked. 

"No I'll it," I said picking up the tests. I looked at all three. All three gave the same result "I'm pregnant,".

"Congratulations hunny," she said. 

I sighed "I really don't know how to feel about this. I've got a baby inside of me and it's not mine. How am I meant to feel about this?" 

"Take it one step at a time. You're thinking about giving the baby up already and what you must be 3 or 4 weeks," 

"Yeah about that,"

"Just get through the pregnancy first okay," 

I sat there silent for a moment "Who do I tell first? Lea? Cory? It's Lea's baby but Cory and I made the baby," 

"You tell them together,"

Emma and I spent some time together before I looked at the time "Lea will be home early today and Cory only has a short shift. They might both be home and wondering where I am," I said. Just as I made that comment my phone rang. It was Cory. I ignored it and hugged Emma "Thank you. I better go tell them but I'm so up for coffee tomorrow too if thats okay," I said. 

"Of course it is. Usual place?" Emma asked. 

"Yeah,"

I got Evelyn and put her in her car seat and then drove home. When I got home I went through the door and I could smell cooking. I saw Cory coming towards me "Hey," I said.

"Everything okay? I came home and you're both gone and you didn't answer your phone," he said panicking. 

I nodded "It's fine. We went out for a bit. Needed some fresh air so we went across town and went for a walk in the park." I said.

Later on in the evening we all ate together and then went to watch TV. Lea then looked at us "I need to talk to you both," she said.
