Hi readers, I am so so sorry for how little I've been posting lately! Tiredness and work is killing me! I really enjoyed writing this chapter and I hope you enjoy reading it! - BusyScott
"No the microphone goes over here!" I call holding a clipboard and plan of the concert grounds.
Barriers were being put up so people couldn't get too close, sparklers were going to be sold for when we play our last song, new lights had been flown in from America just for this one performance.
I felt green, grey, sick to the stomach with worry. I was anxious. David had repeated over and over that I was 'a fantastic musician.' I scoff at the idea of being considered 'fantastic'. I was a nervous wreck! That's what I was!
"Keyboard towards the back!" I instruct. "No, further back." They move it a touch backwards. "No, further!"
"No, bring it closer to the microphone please!" A husky voice makes my voice sound pathetic.
"David!" I growl and storm towards him. "I'm the concert director, leave me to do the sorting. You should be resting your voice!"
"It's my concert, I should have a say in what goes where, shouldn't I?" David winks then lights a fag and huff a great big ball of smoke out.
"David, as much as I love you-"
"Excellent!" David shouts up to my workers who are moving the set around and David puts up both thumbs to show approval.
I just roll my eyes. Although I employed them, they knew they had to listen to whoever was performing. Normally, I let the celebrity just get on with it, but this time it was different.
"I knew you'd stress." David smirks.
"I am not stressing!" I bark at him.
"Got your outfit sorted?" David asks.
No I haven't...
"I was just going to wear black and hide in the background."
"I won't let you do such a thing!" David protests.
"Then what do I wear?" I tut at him.
He rolls his eyes, takes another huff of his cigarette and then puts it out. Once his hands were free, he puts his hand out for me to take. As I do so, he starts to walk me out of the grounds.
"David-" I try to stop him but he hushes me.
"No, this is important."
"My outfit is important?!" I shout and some people look at me strangely.
David puts his sunglasses on, even though the clouds above us were deep cream and some even platinum grey. He looked ridiculous, but with his hat and coat, it was a disguise for now.
We walk through Brixton streets, people hurrying through shops to get last minute presents. I, was rather organised and had the boys presents sorted. David grabs my hand tighter and I lean into his arm, my cheek hot against his icy coat and I hum happily.
"Where are we going?" I ask loudly over the busy crowd.
David says nothing, just strides faster towards wherever it was we were going I practically was jogging next to him.
We should be at the concert grounds... We should start getting ready... Where am I going?!
I couldn't stop my brain from thinking, I wanted it to shut down for just a few minutes! We walk further and further through Brixton until crowds slowly start to disappear. David stops dead in the middle of a pavement, my eyes scurry around whilst his lie dead ahead, admiring one thing:
"The wall..." I breathe and smile seeing David's face plastered over it with bright colours.
I walk up to it and touch its surface, startled by the coldness, I take a sharp breath in and I take my hand back and see my fingers go red. David takes them in his and warms them again, a sigh passes through my teeth.
"Why are we here?" I ask him.
Only a few people pass us now, the ones who don't really notice it's Christmas Day tomorrow. The ones who have just come from the pub.
"I'm here to give you this." He pulls a perfect little black box from his pocket, the box is covered in velvet - clearly an expensive piece of jewellery. "You've been in love with me since you were a little girl, and have continued to love me since." David opens the box and a elegant diamond ring sits comfortably in it, I gasp at how beautiful it is, sparkling, even in this dull, cold day. "But I'll love you until the stars fall out of the sky." I can feel my eyes pooling, and it's too late to stop myself. I'm crying, laughing, and soon enough the ring slips down my finger and I'm gazing at it.
"Ros?" David says taking me out of my trace. "Will you meet me here? After the concert tonight?"
"Of course I will Starman." I whisper and can just see my breath in the winter air.
David takes me in his arms, and manages to give me a hug with our baby bump between us.
"I love you little rebel." David mumbles in my ear.
"I love you too." And with that, David kisses my cheek and leans out.
"Tell me something." David purrs quietly and crisply to me.
"You really want to know something?" I whisper excitedly.
David nods sharply, clearly excited but also concerned.
"We're having a little girl." I breathe, loud enough just for him to hear.
I hear David's heart flutter, the joy escaping through every part of him. His face glows with happiness, he was finally going to have a daughter, the one he always wanted, and envied Margo for. He's speechless, after all I had kept it from him since the last scan.
"I was going to save it till tomorrow, but I can tell you're nervous about tonight so hopefully it-"
"This is the best night of my life, finally, officially, we're engaged and we're expecting a baby girl! Rosalind, you have made me the happiest man on this earth!"
"And you've made me the happiest woman." I smirk and he kisses my lips much more gently then he had previously, it was lustful, longing... This was the perfect night.
