His Boxy Smiles

Rest.

The boys crowded around the room, refusing to take their eyes away from Taehyung.

When the boy woke up last night, they were so glad. So glad and thankful that their pleas were heard. That Taehyung finally woke up.

Seeing Taehyung flutter his eyes open was something they'd desperately prayed for to happen and after days of nightmares, crying, regrets and self-blame- all that black and white- their pleas were answered. They were that relieved and blessed. So beside the boy, they managed to sleep peacefully with no interuptions that night.

However, part of them thought it was just a dream. Even as the doctor gave them assurance and when Taehyung's parents, their manager, Hooshik-nim and Bang PD-nim rejoiced at the news, they still had this small fissure that seemed to be like a huge bridge they had to cross in order to believe that reality. That Taehyung did indeed woke up. That the boy did indeed opened his eyes and stared back at them.

Taehyung's mother said that early that morning, he woke up again and spoke to her.

The boys were ecstatic to hear that. However, it'd be even more great if they witnessed it with their own eyes.

They want to see Taehyung looking back at them again; to see his eyes that they missed so much. They want to see him blink. To see him move. To see him smile. And heck yeah, they want to hear his voice- his deep raspy voice. They want to hear him talk about anything he wanted. They want to hear him reply to their questions and respond to their statements.

They just want Taehyung to be okay.

Hence, they waited for him to awake.

That seemed to be the only thing they've been doing for days but they didn't mind.

When the clock struck 4pm, they were anxious.

He hasn't woken up yet. Would he wake up? He'd wake up again right?

Images of Taehyung's heart stopping flashed through their minds making them doubt the boy. Memories of them just staring at Taehyung's sleeping form for days didn't help either.

As hours passed by, they became more scared and desperate.

He'd wake up again right?

As if she read their minds, Taehyung's mother, who had been in the room looking after them and her son since last night, spoke.

"Don't worry. Taehyung will wake up," she said that with a confident smile, as if she knew that it'd be the case.

That helped ease the boys' worries and negative thoughts to the point that by the time struck 6 pm, they comfortably fell asleep once again.
