“Are you ready Mika?”

“I’m ready and raring to go.” I say with a sarcastic smile on my face. Juliette, Spencer and I are going to the next town for a raid. I won that spar match in case you’re wondering. I grab my gun and tuck in the back of my pants, I’m dressed in a simple t-shirt and tight jeans; Juliette on the other hand, she’s dressed in a short black dress with a laced collar. How can she possibly fight in that?

“Mika?” Spencer’s voice interrupts my thoughts.

“Yeah?” I respond.

“We’re out the door now.” I look and see that he’s right, both Juliette and Spencer are out the door waiting for me.

“She’s most probably scared of the outdoors.” Juliette snipes. It takes me three seconds to step outside and splash Juliette with the puddle she’s standing in front of her. She squeals and leaps high into the air. When she composes herself she glares at me.

“Who’s scared of the outdoors now Juliette?”

“I… I’m.”

“Just admit it Ju, Mika got you good on that one.” Spencer says as he tries to control his laughing. Juliette stomps away and hops onto Saviour. Spencer, no fully recovered goes to follow her.

“Whoa, hold up.” I exclaim.

“What is it?” Spencer looks alarmed.

“Are we going on the horse?” I ask.

“Yeah, why is that a problem?” Spencer asks confused.

“I have a bad past with horses and I don’t feel safe having Juliette be the one to control it.”

“You’re more than welcome to walk then.” Juliette calls from her place on Saviour. I swear that woman has some sort of super sonic hearing.

“You’ll be fine, Juliette won’t do anything bad on purpose, will you Ju?” Spencer tries comforting me but the smug smile Juliette’s giving me only makes the neurons in my brain scream louder than they were before. But I ignore them and walk over to the horse.

“Do you need help getting on?” Spencer asks politely offering me his knee. I shake my head and jump to get on the horse. I fail.

“Here.” Spencer chuckles. I stand up on his knee and onto the horse. Spencer follows me and he puts his arms around me.

“It’ll be ok.” He whispers. In another situation I would’ve found being this close to him somewhat creepy, but before I have time to figure out how I actually feel about it, Juliette has kicked Saviour into fourth gear and he’s off racing down the street.

“Is this the place?” We’ve stopped at some old estate, which is in a worse state than Paris.

“Yep, there’s supposed to have been some Robo activity here a few weeks ago, so hopefully they’ve cleared out, but stay alert just in case.” Spencer instructs as he helps me off the horse. The horse wasn’t that bad, Juliette was kind of nice, except when she purposely led Saviour into a massive ditch, scaring the hell outta me.

“What are we looking for then?” I ask, dusting off my jeans and securing my gun in the back of my jeans and the dagger in my boot.

“Food, water, supplies, anything useful.” Juliette replies as she looks around, looking for signs of foreign activity.

“All clear.” She says and motions to us to follow her.

We’ve now raided three houses, the first two came up with nothing but the third had well stocked cupboards, Spencer’s back there now, loading stuff onto Saviour. Juliette and I are now walking towards what looks like an abandoned warehouse, Juliette reckons that this place was some sort of manufacturing company; we’re hoping it manufactured something useful, like weapons or communication devices.

Juliette goes in first, and I wait for the all clear to follow her. I’m waiting for a hand signal, or just Juliette telling me to come.

I hear Juliette.

Screaming.

Then gun shots.

“JULIETTE!”
