Spencer’s POV

“I think we took a wrong turn.”

“No, this is where the signal’s coming from. Uh, hold on a minute.” I roll my eyes.

“Next time EK, I’ll navigate.”

“No, it’s gone. The signal, it just vanished.” I lean forward to look over her shoulder. Sure enough, the signal that was leading us to the supposed mothership has disappeared from the GPS thingy.

“EK call Greg, ask him what happened. E, park behind a bush or something; just so we’re not in the middle of the road. I’ll radio the rest to let them know what’s going on.”

I’m faintly aware or E driving us somewhere and EK yelling at Greg when it suddenly goes quiet.

“Spencer?” EK whispers.

I’m still on the radio to Chris who’s in the car behind us with his team.

“Wait a minute EK.”

“Seriously mate, take a look at this.” E says, it must be serious if he’s agreeing with EK. I sigh and look out the front windscreen. Just a couple of miles ahead of us is a black car. I finish talking to Chris and promptly go into thinking mode.

EK’s POV

“I’ve seen that car before.” Spencer whispers.

I turn back and see his face has gone a tiny bit white. E’s rambling on but poor Spencer looks like he’s about to pass out. I hit E round the head – cos God knows he needs it – and climb into the back with Spence.

“Spencer.” I say softly. He just looks at his hands.

“Spence, who does the car belong to?” He shakes his head slowly as he looks up at me.

“I don’t know but,” He pauses, like he’s run out of breath.

“It’s okay, you can say it.” I can feel E’s stare on me but I ignore him and focus on helping Spencer.

“Whenever that car is around, so is.” He pauses, it’s a short pause but long enough for E to finish Spencer’s sentence.

“So is Mika.” Spencer looks back at his hands while I look at E, who has a rare look of concentration on his annoyingly good-looking face.

“How is that possible? She works with the Robo now, so that car has to belong to one of them, a powerful one. There’s only one Robo of that power we know of and that is,”

“The Queen.” I cut off E’s thinking. E see’s me looking out the window and see’s what I see.
