Spencer’s POV

I watch Lucas as he closes his eyes, a piece of glass falling from his hand. I can’t believe what just happened. What the hell was that thing? The thing called Sparrow. I killed it; one of Mika’s daggers was on the table, just in my reach. I grabbed it while the monster was doing some very wrong things to Lucas. As soon as I saw it go for his stomach with it’s teeth I threw the dagger – which wasn’t a throwing dagger, but it still worked – the dagger hit it right in the crown of its head and into the brain, killing it instantly. I didn’t know what to do; it was going to eat Lucas’s stomach! Just thinking about it makes me want to throw up. I wonder if that was Sparrow this whole time, whatever it was. Hmm, I don’t feel so good.

I lurch up and throw up into a bowl an old woman is holding for me. I lie down with a sob and I feel a cool hand touch my forehead. It feels nice, trustworthy.

“It’s all right love, it’s alright.” And with the old woman’s comforting words, do I finally rest and sleep.

A FEW DAYS LATER

Mika’s POV

It’s been ages; I don’t actually know how long ages are because there’s no way to keep track of time in this god-forsaken room!

The woman hasn’t come back yet, well another woman did but it wasn’t the first one. This other woman was a nurse and wanted to take a blood and saliva sample, maybe I was right about the craziness disease thing and the next step will be to take brain tissue! Or maybe I’m wrong. I hope I’m wrong.

The food here’s crap, wherever here is. This is so boring, just sitting in this white room, alone, with nothing to do, not even a book. I wish they’d just get on with whatever they want to do to me so I can leave this room.

Suddenly the locks on the door start opening and I know it’s her, I can tell. I sit up on my bed, my back facing the door. When the door is finally opened and the shoes have stopped at the head of my bed do I realise that something’s up. I look over my shoulder and see the back of someone, the woman. Behind her are five Robo,

“Follow me.” Says the woman before walking out the door.

It looks like I’m going for a walk.

Lucas’s POV

“OW!” I yell as a pain hits my stomach, my eyes fly open and I see the raised eyebrow of the old woman from the street.

“You are such a wuss, it’s just a needle.” A needle? Like a syringe?

“Don’t worry, it’s only painkiller. Ask Mr Dougherty if you must, he had it too.” She looks behind her and I follow her gaze to look at Spencer sitting on the floor, he nods and tells me it’s fine. I seem to have been moved from the kitchen floor to the couch in the living room. All the events of before come back to me and I can’t help but look at my stomach, where she stabbed me with her teeth. What’s there now is a pattern of green, purple, blue and yellow skin. Like I have heaps of bruises, except they’re not bruises.

“She was poisonous.” I groan and let my head fall back down; meanwhile the old woman is applying some sort of salve onto the poison spots.

“I’m afraid so, the worse of the poison was on her tongue, so you weren’t so lucky, it went from your cheek down to your stomach.” Who was this woman and how does she know so much about this stuff?

“Who are you?” I ask her, she stops what she’s doing and looks at me with a guarded look on her face.

“My name is Magna-Jean and I’m here to help, that’s all you need to know.” She finishes putting on the salve and then goes to the kitchen. I look questioningly and Spencer who just shrugs his shoulders.

Mika’s POV

From one white room to another I go.

I was led down three different, unsurprisingly white hallways and finally into a big white room, this one had a big mirror on the wall but I know it’s not a mirror; it’s a window. I’m in a viewing room. I look around the rest of the room, well, at least it’s bigger then my old room. It has an actual bed, like a wooden frame and a big mattress, and a sink, there’s even a tablet! Which is probably bugged and tracked.

Oh well.

I sit down on my new bed and reach for the tablet’s power button when I get a shiver down my back. Someone’s watching me.

Spencer’s POV

I’m sitting on the floor watching Lucas rest. I can’t believe I actually thought Sparrow was an innocent little girl! If I listened to Mika then maybe Lucas wouldn’t be poisoned and I wouldn’t have ugly scars all down my mouth. I was lucky; Sparrow had just started eating my mouth when Lucas came in, so I only have teeth marks around my mouth and a few deep punctures.

“He’ll be fine love, just a few more days treatment and some recovery time and the poison will be gone.” I look up and see Magna-Jean standing above me; she pats my shoulder and walks back to her room.

I don’t know who she is, or why she’s here but all I can say is; she’s a miracle.

Thank God for Magna-Jean!
