Mika’s POV
I pull up into the garage and stop the car as two more men come up to the car for extra security. Rast and I get out and stand outside the van doors.
“Right, Rast and Leo can get the girl, you two help Theo carry the boy.” I instruct.
“What are you going to be doing Mika?” Rast asks. I look at the doors of the van.
“Paperwork.”
“You hate paperwork and always make one of us do it,” I shrug my shoulders, “It wasn’t what that girl said was it?”
“No! Open the doors Leo!” The doors open and inside sit Theo and Leo opposite two sleeping bodies.
“Shh, EK went to sleep because she said she was bored, but she fell asleep on top of Spencer! How cute!” Leo whispers.
“Fine! Rast pick her up, Theo and you two get the boy!” I yell frustrated at Leo’s sensitivity.
“Um Mika? What do I do? And where is EK going? Can I go with Rast? I,”
A collective gasp comes from everyone at the reason why Leo was cut off. I had taken my gun out of my pocket, subconsciously I swear! I look up at Leo’s petrified face. I quickly put my gun back.
“Leo, I,” I start but I can’t finish my sentence. So instead I run. I run out of the garage and away from the staring faces, away from Leo’s frightened face and away from the two sleeping strangers. I run away from the boy who I’m supposed to know and into the gym where I start punching the hell out of things.
EK’s POV
“EK? EK?”
“Mmhmm?”
“Sorry but you have to get up now.”
“No I don’t E, leave me alone.”
“Um, I’m not E.”
“Ha ha. Now leave me alone.”
“EK? I’m sorry.”
“Sorry about what? You never apologise.”
“I’m sorry that I’m not E.”
“Then who are you?”
“My name is Leo.”
I wake up and it all comes back to me. Leo’s face looms over mine, I’m lying down in a bed.
“Where’s Spencer?” I sit up quickly and look at Leo who leans back and smiles sadly at me.
“I’m here EK.” I hear a sombre voice say opposite me, Leo moves out the way and I see him looking down at his hands, his amazing hair flopping over his forehead. He looks up and a single tear rolls down his face. I kneel in front of him and put my hands on his knees.
“Oh Spence.”
“I didn’t mean for any of this to happen Em, especially to you.”
“No Spence, you didn’t do this.” I slide one hand up to his thigh and another to his cheek; I lift his head up to meet my eyes.
“If I hadn’t got out that car, I wouldn’t be here, you would be alone and I never want you to be alone. You will always have me Spencer, just don’t leave me behind.” A heartfelt tear glides down my face. Spencer gives a sad, love filled smile as he wipes my tear away; I lean into his hand as he looks at me in the way every girl wants to be looked at.
“I will never leave you behind Emily-Kate, I couldn’t bare being one second without you.” His stunning face moves fluently to mine and his soft, salty lips meet mine in an emotional, slow kiss.
We’re stopped by the thunderous sound of the door being flung open. I look around and hear Spence give a sigh. In the door is a blonde, ignorant, self-centred looking man. On his face is a big smile then as he sees us the smile goes.
“Why you crying Leo? Was it something they said?” I forgot Leo and as I look at him, sure enough he has been crying and wipes his eyes before glaring at the man in the door.
“Go away Kyde.” He sniffles
Kyde gives him a fake pout, impersonating a toddler having a tantrum.
“Aww, is Leo sad? Does baby Leo want his mamma?”
“Hey!” I leap up furiously and stand in front of poor Leo. “Leave him alone idiot!”
The wit leaves Kyde’s face and leaves only a scary, serious expression. I lift my chin up a bit more to show him I’m not backing down, Kyde just turns and tells us to follow him as he walks away. There is no way I’m following him.
“You have to EK.” Leo responds, I must have said that last thought out loud. I turn to the very dejected Leo sitting on the bed I woke up on.
“Are you okay Leo? Don’t listen to him or anyone.” I comfort him.
“He’s right though, I miss my mum.” Another silent tear falls.
“Oh Leo.” I might’ve cried if Spencer hadn’t touched my shoulder and whispered to me that we had to go. As much as I didn’t want to leave Leo I knew Spencer was right. I place a sympathetic hand on Leo’s shoulder and walk out the room.
