Lucas’ POV

“Alright kids, dinner’s ready!” Magna calls from the kitchen. A crowd of varies children rush to the kitchen table. All the jumping kids to the groups of gossiping 13 year olds girls to sulking badass 20 year olds sit at one end of the table where the three eldest sit at the top, Magna being the oldest sits right at the head when Christianos sits on the left to her, being the next oldest and I sit on her right, being the third eldest. Christianos is 25 when I’m 22 this year. Magna doesn’t like to tell us what age she is so she has all of us guessing, well all of us except Spencer and I.

Spencer. As I look down to where he sits with all his friends I can see all the changes in him. He’s taller, which I thought would’ve been impossible since he was really tall when we lived with Juliette, but no, he’s grown and is taller than Magna. Magna loves Spencer like a son, which can upset some of the other children. He’s not only grown physically, but personality too, he’s kind of the popular one in his age group. This place is practically a small boarding school, except in the White House.

As I continue watching Spencer laugh with his mates I suddenly realise how long ago that was. 2 years, for me, is a lifetime.

Mika’s POV

“So?” Leo asks as I walk down the hall with the twins and Adrastos who’s talking to the other twin, Theo.

“So what?” I ask as I watch Rast joke around.

“Rast.” He says, like it’s obvious what he’s implying.

“What about him?” I don’t find it obvious.

“Do you like him?”

“Sure, he’s a good soldier and friend.” I shrug, fully knowing he meant the other kind of like. He groans in frustration and I laugh.

“I know what you’re talking about Leo, and I don’t like anyone like that, not even Rast. We’re just friends.” Rast and Theo turn the corner that Leo and I are about to in 3 seconds.

“Why not? He’s perfect for you and he likes you.” We turn the corner.

“I doubt he likes me like that.” We continue down another white corridor and we pass my old room, the one I stayed in when they first bought me in.

“He does! And you two would be cute! You’d have good looking kids I reckon.” I come to an abrupt stop.

“Leo,” I tell him seriously, “I’m not looking to have a relationship, let alone good looking kids.” He tells how serious I am and his smile leaves his face.

“Why?” I turn to the door and open it whilst answering Leo.

“I just don’t want to.” We enter the room where Rast is talking to someone else and Theo’s standing around looking bored; when Theo sees us enter he comes over to talk to us.

“Why not?” Leo persists; he’s like a little child.

“Why not what?” Theo asks, coming up to us.

“I’m asking Mika why she doesn’t want a relationship.” Leo says as excited as a kid on Christmas, what a gossip goat.

“Yeah, why don’t you Mika?” Theo plays along, knowing full well it’s annoying me.

“Just because I don’t want to.” I fold my arms, irritated but smiling a bit.

“Have you ever been in a relationship?” The question comes from another of our colleges, Peter asks. I see out of the corner of my eye that Rast has finished talking and is watching us.

“I don’t think so, I don’t remember if I have.”

“How could you not remember?” Theo asks, crossing his arms. Rast comes behind him and puts a hand on his shoulder.

“What’s going on?” He asks cheerily.

“We’re grilling Mika on her love life.” Leo informs him with a big smile on his face. Little creep.

“Oh?” Rast smiles at me slyly, knowing full well I am not enjoying this.

“It’s not very interesting, she can’t remember if she’s dated before.” Peter joins in.

“Well, why are we questioning her further?” Rast suddenly turns very serious and guarded, something Peter said Rast did not like.

“Demetrio.” We all look over at the sound of Adrastos’ last name being called. Standing on the far side of the room is a Robo, but not any old Robo. He’s Rast and I’s superior, our commanding officer, we call him Boss. He nods at Rast and walks out the door. I look at Rast, and for a while I try to figure out what look on his face is exactly. He turns to look at me, I snap out of my trance and give him a wink before shoving him towards the door. He smiles quickly and walks to where Boss walked out.

As soon as he’s out the door I turn to the other three guys and cross my arms.

“Why were you still questioning me?”

Lucas’ POV

After dinner, the little kids say goodnight to everyone, giving everyone hugs and the older kids go into the media room to do god knows what. Christianos and I went to help Magna clear up dinner in the massive kitchen.

As Magna and I were washing up Christianos was putting away crockery, Magna leant over to me and whispered.

“He’s a bit strange don’t you think?” She nods toward Chris, but neither of us looking at him. I shrug.

“I respect his space.” I whisper back, putting the 20th plate I’ve washed into the dryer.

“Of course you do, the gentleman that you are.” Even though she’s messing with me a proud smile lies on her face. I nudge her and we go back to washing up.
