“There’s she should be all better now.” I hear a male voice say.

“I didn’t know you could do this kind of stuff.” Another male voice says.

“Why did you think I couldn’t?” The first voice says, I recognise them both, I just need names to put to them.

“She’s responsive, see the way her eyes are moving under her eyelids.” Spencer, that’s his name. Flashes of images come to mind, a tall boy with black hair and a massive smile, then the same boy but he’s in the arms of some robot and the last is of him looking at me worriedly.

“When will she be able to move?” I can’t place a finger on that voice, it’s a female voice and it’s very tinny.

“By the end of the day at least, but you know Mika, she’s gonna want to get up before then.” Spencer laughs at the end bit.

“We just won’t let her.” Says the second male voice, “Mika has to learn that she’s not invincible.” Now I know who it is, only one person I know would say something like that. Lucas. That bastard who was the reason I got injured in the first place. But he’s not all bad, is he?

“Good luck trying to tell her that, it’ll kill her as much as this nearly did.” Says the female, Juliette. I have nothing to say about her. Well, I do but I don’t want to say it now, maybe another time. I’m fully aware of everything now, I remember everything and I can hear them talking, so now I just need to open my eyes.

“She’s opening her eyes!” Spencer says in delight.

“No shit Sherlock.” I murmur back, my eyes are just open enough to see a confused smile on his face, I hear Lucas laugh.

“Who’s Sherlock?” Spencer asks.

“You don’t know who Sherlock is?” Lucas asks as I open my eye fully, taking in my surroundings, we’re in the dining room and I’m on the table with Spencer and Lucas on chairs next to me and Juliette is in the living room, sulking.

“No, should I?” Spencer asks confused. I chuckle and shake my head, ouch! Shouldn’t have done that. Lucas jumps up but Spencer pushes him back onto his chair as he reaches up and readjusts my bandaging. As he does that Lucas and I explain to him who Sherlock is.

“I think I saw him in my room, he was a comic wasn’t he?” Spencer finishes with me and looks at us.

“He was originally, but those comics are really old now, there were barely any left when I was growing up.” Lucas looks thoughtful. Spencer then walks out of the room.

“Where are you going?” I yell after him.

“To find Sherlock!” He yells back then laughs at his own joke. Find Sherlock, ironic. Now that Spencer’s gone it’s just Lucas and I.

Well, this is awkward.

A bit more awkwardness.

Just a tiny bit more.

 Where is Spencer?

Doo de doo.

Stuff this!

“Why did you have that paper on me Lucas?” I stay looking up at the ceiling. Nice chandelier.

“Mika, can we just leave that alone?” Lucas says in a sad tone.

“No Lucas, we cannot. How would you find it if I had a whole piece of paper on you?”

“Flattering.” I can hear him smiling. Not this again.

“Fine, just remember what happened last time you didn’t give a straight answer.” I close my eyes in fury, why did I have to cross paths with this hunk of meat?

“I,” Lucas starts but is interrupted.

“I found it! It’s the last print!” Spencer comes running in waving it around.

“Don’t wave it around then! Be careful! Can I see it?” I hold out my hand and he puts the comic into it. I hold it up to my eyes, he’s right; it is the last printed copy. I open the pages and start reading.

“Spencer mate?” I hear Lucas whisper. Not great whispering if I can hear you is it?

“Yeah?” Spencer whispers back, what is it with these people and not having the capability to whisper, I bet Juliette can’t do it either.

“Could you leave us alone for a few minutes?” Why did he do that? I don’t want to be alone with Lucas, don’t go Spencer; I’m begging you!

“Have you kissed yet?” Spencer asks, hello? I’m right here you know!

“No.” Why did he say that like it’s a bad thing? Ugh.

“Are you going to?” Shut up Spencer! You’re making it worse! What he’s making worse I don’t know yet, but whatever it is, he’s making it worse for sure.

“Can you just go please?” Lucas sounds exasperated, you and me both mate.

“Fine, fine. Call me if her condition changes.” Then his footsteps fade away. Nooo, Spencer! Come back! But he’s not coming back. I realise that I’m being a bit overdramatic here but I have good reason! I keep reading Sherlock; he would know what to do now.

“Mika, stop ignoring me.” Lucas touches my arm, I flinch away and I can tell that it hurt him. At least he doesn’t have a wound in the middle of his chest. Yes I know it was self-inflicted, but it was because of him I accidently inflicted it!

“Fine how about I talk and you listen?” Ok, start talking then.

“Mika, I have a good reason to have that piece of paper, I just can’t tell you now, I will tell you, but not now. I would if I could, but I can’t. Please understand that, Mika, you have to believe me.”

“Ok, but if you’ve got anything else that I should know about you need to tell me now.” I painfully turn my head, Lucas sees me wince and goes to touch my cheek, I glare at him and he withdraws his hand.

“That’s all.” He looks down and back up with a different emotion in his eyes, before it was sadness and loss, but now it’s anger mixed with despair, it’s the kind of look someone gets when they witness a loved one being murdered. I can’t stand it on my face anymore so I look back up to the ceiling. I hear Lucas sigh and get up, the chair making a soft screeching against the floor. I look up just in time to see his back turn the corner.

What is he hiding?

So that chapter was a bit more of a character one, but there will be some action soon!

I love getting comments form everyone who’s reading; it makes me feel really happy!

I’d love to hear your thoughts on what you think Lucas is hiding and also on what Mika’s hiding!

Thanks,

Teagan xx
