Lucas’s POV

“Hey handsome.” I’m sitting on my chair when she comes up to me and sits on my knee; I look up and see her smiling face. I smile back and she reaches down to touch my face. I nuzzle my face against her hand and she leans back into me. Her head’s on my shoulder and I put my arms around her waist.

“Hey.” I whisper as I run my thumb against a bit of her bare stomach. She giggles and squirms.

“That tickles.” She giggles as I continue to tickle her.

“What, this?” I pretend being innocent. That just makes her giggle more.

“Yes, that! Lucas! Stop it!” She’s full on laughing now.

“That’s not tickling, this is tickling!” I exclaim as I gently guide her off the chair and onto the floor where I playfully tickle her. We stay like that for a few minutes, with my knees on either side of her hips and tickling her from above while she’s laughing and trying to get away from me. When I stop, she takes a while to calm down. A massive smile is on both our faces as we stare into each other’s eyes. I can’t imagine that this amazing girl is in my life; she’s so beautiful. I lean down to kiss her and she reaches up. I pause when our faces are at least a centimetre away from each other. She whispers my name and puts her soft lips to mine. She is amazing. I just manage to say her name against her lips.

“Mika.”

Mika’s POV

I’m watching him as he sleeps. I know how that must sound and I would’ve thought the same if I wasn’t the one saying it. The only reason I’m watching him sleep is because a stunner hit him and he could be injured.

Ok, that was a bad excuse; I’m having a hard time convincing myself. I can’t just sit here without looking at him though; he looks so peaceful. But I will wake up him up, soon. He’s smiling massively and I’m trying to figure out what he could be thinking, then,

“Mika.”

What the hell? Did he just say my name in his sleep? Ok, this guy’s got to wake up.

“Lucas, wake up Lucas.” I shake him on the shoulder. No luck. He continues to smile. I’m thinking of letting it go but then he starts moaning. Oh god. Gross! There’s only one way I can wake him up.

SLAP!

“Ow! What the hell?” Lucas’ eyes fly open and he cradles the cheek I slapped. He looks up at me and his cheeks go red.

“Have sweet dreams did we?” I sarcastically smile and go back to my chair next to his.

“Oh god, did I say anything?” He turns to me; his whole face is the colour as Rudolph the Reindeers nose.

“No, but you did a lot of sound effects, especially moaning.” I lie, about him saying anything, not the sound effects part, because he did do that. Even though I’m not looking at him I can practically feel the heat of his embarrassment. We both sit in an awkward silence for a few minutes. I look down at my watch, it’s around 7pm, I should start making dinner, I stand up.

“I’m just,” “How did?” Lucas and I try talking at the same time. We look at each other.

“You can go first.”

“No, you can.”

“Really, I insist.”

“Are you sure?”

“Yes I am.”

“You probably have something better to say than me.”

“Then you can go first.”

“Lucas,”

“Please say whatever you were going to say.”

This is stupid.

“I was going to make dinner, but dinner can wait.” I sit back in my chair and turn my body to him, tucking my ankle under my knee.

“What did you want to say Lucas?” I’m giving him my full attention now, and I barely do that so he better start talking.

“How did we get home?” Lucas says quietly but loud enough for me to hear.

“I drove you and Juliette and Spencer came on Saviour.”

“No, how did we get away from all those Robo?” He turns to me now and the seriousness in his eyes is lie repellent.

“I killed them.” Short answers Mika; keep it short and sweet. Well, as sweet as a slaughter spree can be. Hey that rhymed! Spree and be? Get it? I’ll just shut up now.

“All of them? By yourself?” He looks at me bewildered.

“Yeah, there weren’t many of them.” I shrug and turn to face the two empty chairs facing Lucas and I.

“There were heaps Mika,” Lucas persists. I cross my arms and slide deeper into my chair.

“Just leave it Lucas. We’re all here safe.” I murmur. Lucas comes over and crouches in front of me.

“We’re only safe because of you, Mika.” He reaches up to touch my face, the thought of having his rough, yet perfect hand on my face is overwhelming. Gather yourself woman. I shove his hand away and stand up. I look down at his shocked face.

“Just leave it alone Lucas.” I say confidently yet pleadingly. He doesn’t answer, he just lowers his head to the floor and nods.

“Ok.” I hear him whisper. I turn around and head to the kitchen. As I pull out the things for dinner I think one thought I never imagined would come from me.

I should tell him.
