“Mika?” I hear him whisper my name.

“Drey?” I look around for him. Calling out his name repeatedly, like a broken record. Do records even repeat when they’re broken? I don’t know; don’t care.

“Drey!” I’ve got to keep looking! Speak to me Drey!

“Mika, you can’t tell anyone.” I hear him whisper urgently.

‘Drey? Where are you? Drey!” I collapse on the floor with exhaustion and sadness and I feel tears rolling down my cheeks, where is Drey? Then suddenly a shadow passes over me and sticks to my body. I look up but I can’t see the person’s face.

“Drey?” I reach up to him and he kneels down, taking my hand and pressing it to his face. I focus my eyes on his face, Drey.

Then a white light flashes and we’re somewhere else, Drey is gone.

“Drey!” I stand up and find myself in a white room surrounded by Robo. I spot Drey standing in front of them.

“Drey.” I put one foot forward but a hand on my shoulder stops me. No one can stop me from getting to him. Angry, I turn around and find,

“Lucas, get off me.” I growl at him, no time to think of why he’s here, I need to get to Drey.

“He’s not who he was Mika, he’s one of them.” Lucas’ hand stays firm on my shoulder.

“What are you talking about? Drey would never do that.” Why would he be saying this?

“He’s lying, Mika.” I spin around at the sound of his voice. I can no longer feel Lucas’ hand, all I can think about is Drey; he’s here, in front of me. I can be with him, just like we always planned. I step forward to kiss him but Lucas’ hand pulls me back.

“Get off me Lucas!” I yell at him and try ripping his hand off my shoulder.

“But we need you Mika, Spencer, Juliette and I.” At the mention of Spencer and Juliette’s names I freeze. Maybe they could come with Drey and I.

“Who are they Mika?” Drey asks, and if I’m not imagining it, he asks in a jealous tone. Drey never gets jealous.

“They’re just some friends.”

“Friends? Mika, you’re like family to us, especially Spencer. He adores you.” Lucas says softly. Is this it? Drey or them? I can’t do this.

“It’s a hard decision isn’t it?” I hear a female voice say. I look past Drey, all the Robo are gone and there’s just one figure, she’s wearing and hooded cape so I can’t see her face.

“You said she would come with you Drey.” She walks up just behind Drey and places her chin on his shoulder. Who is this woman? How does she know Drey?

“She would, I didn’t know this guy would be here.” Drey gestures to Lucas with his head.

“Well, if she won’t come because of him then he’ll have to go.” She whispers. Go? Go where? Where are they taking him? Wait a minute. Drey? Is that a gun? Oh no.

“NO!” I yell and jump in front of Lucas.

Bang!

~

I jerk awake, sitting up I can feel sweat dripping down my forehead. The lights in my room switch on and I see an also sweating Lucas in my bedroom doorway. We look at each other and we know one thing. We shared the same dream.

“Why are you waking me up? It’s almost midnight.” Spencer moans under in his bed, he tries to burrow his head under the blankets. I pull them back and go to his wardrobe.

“What are you doing? Mika, what’s going on?” Spencer sits up in bed, half awake.

“We’re leaving.” I say as I find a duffel bag. I walk over to the end of his bed and throw it at his feet.

“You need to pack, not too much and nothing unnecessary.” I begin to walk out his door and leave him to pack when Spencer asks me a question.

“Is this about that scary dream?” I freeze; he was there too?

“What scary dream?” I ask, in his bedroom doorway but not looking at him.

“The one where we were in a white room and you had to choose between us and this dude called Drey.” He was there, how come I didn’t see him?

“Who was Drey?” He asks me.

“No one, now start packing.” I walk out into the hallway where I see Juliette talking to Lucas, well when I say ‘talking’ I mean yelling at him.

“I knew she was bad news! I said she should go!” She yells, I take it she’s not too happy about leaving.

“Lucas, we have finally found a safe house, this house. We can’t just leave it behind for a stranger!” Lucas shakes his head, fed up and goes downstairs. Oh but Juliette’s not finished, she follows him down the stairs. Good luck to him.

I go to my room and pack what little I have. I then pick up a photo frame I had knocked on the floor somehow. I flip it over and look at it. It’s my daddy and me when I was small and he was still alive. Before Mother married that drunkard bastard, before The Robo came. Oh Daddy, what has become of my life? A single tear escapes my left eye. I don’t usually cry. I shouldn’t be crying. Stop crying Mika.

“Mika?” I hear a voice say from the doorway of my bedroom. I wipe my tear away before turning around and seeing Lucas. He can tell I’m not too happy.

“We’re ready and waiting downstairs.” He says.

“I’ll be down right away.” I say as I turn back to my packing.

“Mika?” Lucas’ voice is closer, I can feel his breath on my hair and he touches my back gently.

“It’ll be ok.” He whispers in my ear, and then he walks away, leaving me with a broken photo frame in my hands. If only my dad was here, he'd know what to do.
