(Song of the chapter: Treat You Better)
I reached for her hand and she pulled her hand off the table.
Y/N: Lisa, please tell me you believe me.
Lisa: It's not that I don't believe you. I do.
I sighed in relief and couldn't help but smile.
Y/N: Aww, thank goodness. You worried me there for a second.
She faked a smile and I know a fake smile when I see one. My smile turned upside down into a frown.
Y/N: Lisa, what's wrong? Please, don't be sad... He didn't deserve you anyways. You're way out of his league.
Lisa: He may not be perfect, but... I love him, so that's why I'm going to hold on.
Those last few words struck me. " I love him, so that's why I'm going to hold on." I kept replaying those words over and over again in my head. Is she f*cking crazy?!? Her boyfriend rapes me, freaking cheats on her, and she's still going to give him another chance?!? I don't know what hurts more, that fact that she didn't choose me, or that fact that she's giving him another chance. She keeps breaking me, it's so soon and I already feel like giving up on her. Is she even worth the pain? Is she even worth fighting for? Does she not see that I care about her more than he cares about her? Can she not see that she belongs with me: that I'm willing to fight for her, and stick by her side through thick and thin? Am I invisible to her? Am I non-existent in her eyes? What am I to her: am I just her friend, am I just her punching bag, or am I just there for her to lean on when she's in pain or when she gets hurt? I'm so afraid of losing her at this point, that I don't even care who gets hurt along the way. No one is stopping me from loving her. She can tell I was worried and confused. This time she was the one who reached for my hand and gripped it. I looked up and met her beautiful eyes. She looked as confused as I was. My eyes dropped to her kissable pink lips, then down to where her hand gripped mine. My heart was beating in my chest as fast as the day I first caught a glimpse of her through the window of my house. Is it possible to fall more and more in love with someone each second of every day you spend with them? Is it possible? My stomach was turning inside of me. I examined her eyes once more before reacting. I placed my other hand on top of ours.
Y/N: Lisa, I don't want to sound desperate, but... choose me, just choose me, Lisa. I won't hurt you, I can't because I love you that much.
Quietly, she slips her hand away from mine.
Y/N: Lisa, say something. Say something, damn it!
I slammed my hand angrily on the table. Backs turned to face our direction. I look down in embarrassment.
Lisa: I'm sorry, but I can't give you what you want.
Y/N: Tell me you don't love me. Do it, say it!
She stared me dead in the eyes.
Lisa: I'm sorry, but I don't love you that way.
Y/N: That's all I have to hear. If you want Spencer, be with him. I don't give a f*ck anymore. And, don't you dare come running back to me when he hurts you.
I slammed my hand once more on the table, grabbed my drink, and got up from my seat. As I went out the door, I took a short pause not only to throw away my drink, but to wait and see if she'd come after me. . . . .
Do you think she stopped you before you left?
