As soon as he saw us hugging, Spencer ran up to us, grabbed me by the hem of my shirt, and sent my flying back. He was furious, I would say he was jealous. My eyes dropped to his hands. Both hands were clenched tightly, his face burning as red as a tomato with each second that passed. He lunged towards me, but Lisa was too quick and stepped in front of him. Spencer snapped at me with rage.
Spencer: How dare you touch my girlfriend!
He was fighting his way against Lisa and accidentally pushed her onto the ground. I was calm, but he really heated me up, pushing Lisa like that. Now it's my turn. . . I went towards him and shoved him back, followed by a jab that hit his jaw. His head went back slightly, his lip busted open. Blood trickled from his lip and down his face. He wiped away the blood. His cold eyes met mine, they were filled with fury. He came at me and pushed me up against one of the store's glass windows. His knuckles slicing my face. I flinched when I thought he was going to hit me again, my head turned off to the side. Nothing. I slowly opened them. His fist in midair, close to pressing on my face. Lisa had gotten ahold of his arm before he could take action. Police sprinted to us and pulled Spencer away from me, his arms pinned behind him. His breathing was shaky. Lisa came toward us and when I thought she was going to reassure me. . . she went to Spencer, of course, the boyfriend.
Lisa: Babe, are you okay? Oh my gosh, your lip! It's bleeding!!! We need to get you attention!
Two different paramedics rushed to the both of us. One went to Spencer and one went to me. The kind lady guided me to the ambulance and sat me down on the ledge. She dabbed my gash with a damp cloth that contained alcohol. The whole time I watched Lisa care for Spencer. Every here and there, I would flinch at the sting of alcohol rubbing onto my fresh cut. I overheard Lisa's conversation with Spencer, it seemed like they were arguing.
Spencer: Why were you with her? Specifically, why were you hugging her!?! I've just gotten back from the military and this is what I get! You're so selfish! You tell me you miss me and you tell me you want me to come home! Here you are, fooling around with other men! Scratch that, it's not even a man, it's a girl! Do you even love me still...? Or are you in love with that girl? Tell me, Lisa. I deserve to know.
Lisa: She means nothing to me, babe. I only love one person, you. No one else, but you.
Spencer: If you love me... stay away from her!
Lisa: Deal, just don't leave me, please!
I have to say those words stung. My heart broken to millions of pieces. Did my feelings mean very little to her? Was everything she said to me true? I felt the need to scream, the need to slip down in a corner and bawl my eyes out, the need to let out my anger and hit something. I needed to do something before my head explodes. Once the paramedic finished on me, I thanked her and stormed off. I started power walking, but it turned into running, and then I just sprinted. I sprinted for as long as I could. My lungs were caving in on me, collapsing. I stopped and took a turn in an alley to catch my breath. I slammed my hand on the wall, falling to my knees. I felt weak to the bone. I slumped onto the wall, hugging my knees to my chest. My head lowered to my knees to hide my face. I felt ashamed, betrayed. Lisa really has changed since I've last seen her. I barely know who she is now. She's so different, a stranger to me. I shouldn't be blaming her; we've drifted apart, we've become who we truly are... strangers to one another. . . . .
Did Lisa really mean what she said about you?
