Y/N: You think this is enough? I was just getting started! The past twelve years I spent in that house, you only prioritized your other child and your husband. You isolated me from your real family. So tell me if you care about me mom. Why are you even here?
At this point my mom was beginning to cry uncontrollably. She had this look in her eyes and I couldn't depict what it meant.
Sylvester: What you're saying isn't true. Even if you weren't my true blood, I loved you like you were my own child. I'm not here–or we're not here to boast about how much we have grown as a family because of your departure; we're actually here to alert you of your mom's condition.
Y/N: Condition? What condition?
My mom approached me with open arms and grabbed me by the shoulders; she stared deeply into my [color] eyes.
Y/M: I have stage three breast cancer.
Y/N: How long do you have?
Y/M: The doctor hasn't given me an exact number of how many days, weeks, or months I have left, but I know it's not long.
Y/N: How long have you all known?
Lena: Not very long.
Y/N: You told Lena before me? Why am I the last to know this?
Y/M: Because I knew it would hurt you the most if I told you.
Sylvester: That's why we sent you over here to Germany; it wasn't my idea to do that. It was your mom's. After you left, your mom got treatment for the cancer and soon enough she got better, but—
Y/N: But, what?
Y/M: It came back with more fierce.
Y/N: There must be something we can do about it.
I was bawling.
Y/N: I can get you medication or give you the money for chemotherapy!
Both my mom and Sylvester wrapped their arms around me.
Sylvester: We've already gone through those options and it's not working for her anymore.
Y/M: There is nothing left for us to do, sweetie.
There was three knocks at the door.
Doctor: Sorry to ruin the moment, but visiting hours are unfortunately over. The doors open again at 9:00 A.M.
Lena: Okay. Thank you.
The doctor smiles and then leaves. Following the doctor, my parents kiss me goodbye and leave. Now it's just me and Lena in the room. For minutes we just cling to one another in a moment of silence.
Lena: I should get going before they kick me out. Goodbye, Y/N. I love you.
Y/N: I love you, too.
I watched her walk out the door.
