A few days after my accident, I was discharged from the hospital; I wasn't there for long because my doctor said I had minor injuries. I'm lucky to even be alive right now.
I cradled Lena in my arms. She didn't want to leave me alone after the accident, but I didn't mind her company. Even though she was there, Lisa was constantly running through my mind. I shook the image of Lisa from my head. Why was she on my mind?
Lisa's POV:
I saw it coming from miles away. It stung. My eyes began to tear up and I couldn't control my emotions. My lip quivered with fear. Spencer never hit me in front of Charlie before.
Charlie stood up from the dinner table.
Charlie: Mommy!
Spencer: Sit down!
He gripped my hair and pulled me up from my seat. I felt my blonde locks of hair tugging on my scalp. I bellowed with pain.
Lisa: Spencer, stop! Please, you're hurting me!
You're hurting me!
He lead me to the master bedroom and shut the door behind us and locked it.
Next thing I knew he brought me down on the bed.
Spencer: Is this what you want?
He kissed me hard on the lips, his eyes filled with hunger. It ended briefly.
Spencer: Did his kiss feel like that?
I stared cluelessly into his eyes and looked away. He forced me to face him.
Spencer: Answer me damn it!
I slapped him right across the face.
Lisa: You might be my husband, but you have no right to speak to me like this.
I pounded on his chest with my fists. My eyes were overflowing with tears.
Lisa: Spencer, I put up with you for the past eight years of our marriage, but this is too much. What did I ever do to deserve this treatment? When we were younger, you never laid a finger on me. Now it's a habit for you to yell and hit me. Don't you remember when we used to be so in love? Because this—this isn't love anymore, Spencer.
Spencer's POV:
What have I done with my life? My wife. I love her like crazy and yet I have hurt her several times. I pulled her hands from off my chest and grasped it.
Spencer: I'm sorry, Lisa.
Lisa: You're full of lies. Did you know that? You say stuff and you never mean it! Our marriage? That's another! When we got married, you made an oath that you would treat me right and love me unconditionally. You promised me that you'll be there for me through the ups and downs of our life, but where were you? All you've done was cause me more pain than I already had inside of me. How are we going to make this work when you're constantly doubting me and holding me back from my dreams? Spencer, I love you——I really do, but this has to end—the fighting and the yelling.
Spencer: You can't leave me. Please, don't leave me! I'm begging you; I'll do whatever it takes to be a better husband. I promise you, babe.
Lisa: We're not meant to be with one another and we both need to accept that. Okay?
Will Spencer accept his marriage for what it was?
