Lisa's POV:
Spencer: No, it's not okay. We can still work this out, Lisa.
He ran his hands along my shoulder and pushed the strands of hair from out of my face.
Lisa: There's nothing left to fix.
I put my hand on his cheek.
Lisa: I'm done trying.
He grabbed both my hands with his.
Spencer: Then let me try harder for the both of us. Let me be a better husband for you and a better father to our son.
He could no longer hold back the tears in his eyes.
Spencer: Please, don't leave me.
Lisa: I have to go.
I pulled back my hands and unlocked the door and left. As soon as I take foot out the door, he tries to pull me back, but I don't budge.
Spencer: Just think about you're doing for a second. Stay for a couple more days and let's sort things out. Come on, Lisa. Do this for me. For our son.
Lisa: Don't use my son as an excuse. This is what's best for all of us.
I pick up Charlie and brush the tips of his blonde hair out of his face.
Lisa: Honey, you and I are going to go visit Auntie Lena.
Charlie: Yay!
Charlie's smile turns into a frown.
Charlie: What about daddy? Is he going to be coming?
I put him down and he runs to Spencer. Spencer bends down and lays a hand on his shoulder.
Spencer: No. Sorry, bud. I (uh) have some things to take care of at home, but don't worry I'll see you soon. I promise, okay?
Charlie hugs Spencer and he returns the hug.
Charlie: Okay, daddy!
Spencer: I'll miss you. Sorry about the fight you had to see earlier.
Lisa: Your dad didn't mean to yell at you either. He just—he just lets his emotions get the best of him sometimes.
Charlie faces me.
Charlie: I know, mommy.
I tug on Spencer's sleeve and bring him off to the side and lower my voice so that Charlie couldn't hear.
Lisa: I'll be back for some of our clothes tomorrow. I can't stand being here for another minute.
Spencer: When can we see each other?
Lisa: Whenever I'm ready.
Spencer: Wh-
Lisa: Look. I need this and so do you. Maybe space is what you need to really rethink what you've been doing to us. And maybe, I'll even consider coming back home.
Spencer: Anything to make things right.
I begin to back away and head for the front door.
Lisa: Spencer.
Spencer: Goodbye, Lisa.
He comes over to give me a quick peck on the cheek, but I move away.
Spencer: Bye, Charlie.
He waves goodbye and we leave. I flag a taxi and head to Lena's. When I reach her doorstep, Lena hugs Charlie first and then, envelops me in a big hug. The tears just kept coming.
Lisa: I should've listened to you when you told me he was only going to cause me pain and heartbreak. Apart of me refused to believe he changed; I wanted to believe he would go back to how he was before. I was wrong to.
Lena: It's okay. We all make mistakes. It's what makes us human.
I scoff.
Lisa: I expected you to tell me,"I told you so,"
Lena pulls away slightly and smirks at me.
Lena: I wanted to. I really did; I mean it sounded really tempting.
I raise my hand to smack her arm as a joke. She throws her forearm in defense.
Lena: But, it would've been really mean and it wasn't the right moment to.
Lisa: Well, good!
We both steal a quick laugh and head inside.
Charlie: What took you guys so long?
Lena: I missed your mom so much that we got lost in time trying to catch up.
Charlie: Okay.
Lena: Are those my snacks I see in your hands?
Lena jokingly glares at him.
Charlie: Uh-no.
Lena begins rushing towards him and he runs away. I laugh at the two running around the house. I was just about to go into the kitchen when I smacked right into—Y/N?
Lisa: I'm so sorry!
Y/N: Don't worry about it.
I give a small smile.
[Y/N's POV]
She hardly smiled at me and my heart already felt so warm around her.
Lisa: I didn't know you were going to be staying with Lena while you recover.
Y/N: Yeah...About that. I got into an argument with my mom and it made me realize how much I've always wanted my own family. So, Lena and I thought why wait and just move in together right now.
Lisa: Oh, so you're living here now?
Y/N: Seems like it, but the living situation is only temporary until we finish packing Lena's things and finalize the paperwork to sell her house.
Lisa: Huh. Good thing I came because who knows when I was going to find out about this whole new thing.
I could tell that she was getting a bit annoyed.
Y/N: Look you sound upset and I'm sorry we didn't tell you the minute we decided to do this, but you have to understand that we were only thinking about what's best for the both of us and what we want for our future.
Lisa: Don't you think it's so soon?
Y/N: I've known you the longest and I thought you would understand because you're my best friend. I don't know why you're being so weird about this, Lisa.
Lisa: You're right. It's whatever.
She pushes past me and bumps my shoulder. What has gotten into her?
