(Song of the Chapter: Misery)
Lisa: Where could I get the coffee?
Y/N: Why don't you ask around? Never mind, I'll have someone else do it. You're good for nothing.
I pressed the button on my desk.
Y/N: Quinn, get me a double shot of expresso.
Quinn: I'm right on it, Ms. [last name].
I release the button and stare at Lisa, thinking of what to say.
Y/N: Lisa, take a seat.
She took a seat and I went on my desktop. Silence filled the air again.
Lisa: Are you still mad at me?
Y/N: Mad at you for what?
Lisa: For hurting you and for choosing Spencer over you. I'm so–
I was slightly ticked off and rose my voice at her. I wish she hadn't brought that topic up.
Y/N: Lisa, lets set this aside. This is work and it's strictly just for worked related stuff. Okay?
Lisa: Okay, avoid the subject. It's okay to be hurting, Y/N. I don't blame you if you're mad at me, but you can't keep acting like you're okay.
Y/N: Lisa, I should know how I feel and I think
I'm doing fine.
Two knocks at the door.
Quinn: May I come in?
Y/N: Please, you're just on time.
Lisa stood up and grabbed the coffee from Quinn, my secretary.
Lisa: It's fine. I'll give it to her.
Lisa grips the mug of hot coffee with both hands. Constantly, she switched her hands back and forth because of the amount of heat being transferred to her fingertips. Her hands gave up and the mug slipped in between her finger, splashing from my chest down to my waist. I jumped up in response to the sizzling of coffee.
Lisa: Oh my gosh! I'm so sorry.
She grabbed a few tissues from my desk and lightly patted my clothes. I placed my hand on hers as a way of telling her to stop.
Y/N: It's fine, I have some spare clothes to wear.
I wait for her to leave, but she stands there.
Y/N: Lisa, I can't change if you're still in here.
Lisa: Right, sorry. I'll be going now.
She had a look of embarrassment on her face. Her cheeks all rosy. How cute, I thought. I watched her leave and went to my closet towards the back of my office. My damp clothes dropped to the floor. I rummaged through the closet and found the picture of us, flipping it over face down. I grabbed my clothes and put them on.
Y/N: Lisa, you can come back in! So, lets get you started on some actual work. Shall we? Hello– Earth to Lisa.
Her gaze was down at my body, my slim, fit body. I pretended like I didn't know what was going on and I walked to her, placing my hand on her shoulder.
Y/N: Hey, Lisa. Is everything alright?
Lisa looked at my hand and then finally looked into my [color] eyes.
Lisa: Yeah, I'm fine. Sorry, I just have a lot going on right now.
Y/N: Look, whatever it is, like I said, you need to set that aside. Don't bring your problems to work. We've wasted too much time.
I left the office. Lisa followed after me.
Lisa: Why, are you acting like this? You were never like this before!
Y/N: It's none of your business! People change, Lisa!
Lisa: Change? I don't like this new you! I miss the old you, the one who wanted to protect me from this nightmare!
Y/N: You need to realize that I'm not that person anymore, Lisa!
Lisa's eyes were red from crying so much. A young boy came from around the corner. He was running towards us in the hallway.
Little Boy: Mommy!
Mommy. . . . ?
