I must've fallen asleep again because I woke up to a sudden movement on my chest. I opened my eyes to find my mom sound asleep on me. When did she get here? How long was I out for? Where was Lena? I carefully readjusted my position and slipped out of my hospital bed. I crept towards the door. My hand was already gripped tightly on the doorknob when my mother's gentle voice stopped me.
Y/M: Sweetheart, I'm glad you're awake. I've missed you.
I was still facing the door as she spoke to me. Her long arms wrapped around me from behind. She left a small peck on my cheek. I twisted the doorknob and exited the hospital room I was checked into. My mother's arms slipped off my lower torso. She stood there, bewildered. I only got a few feet away before a nurse directed me back to my room.
Nurse: Excuse me, Ma'am. You need to go back to your room. All your injuries may worsen if you don't get rest.
Y/N: I need to find my girlfriend—I mean my friend. Her name is Lena. Maybe, you have seen her; she has been watching over me since yesterday.
She supported my back with her left hand and held my right arm with the other. We slowly walked back to the room and along the way, we made conversation.
Nurse: How about—if I see this Lena girl, I'll let you know and I'll bring her to your room myself, instead of you wondering the hallways. Does that sound good to you? Are you okay with that?
My face lit up with joy and I immediately turned my face to her.
Y/N: That sounds fine to me. Thank you very much.
Nurse: Yeah, no problem.
I pointed at my room door and she stopped.
Y/N: This is it. You didn't have to take me the whole way, but thanks.
Nurse: It's my job to help.
She let go of me and checked on the patient next door.
I peered inside the room and saw my mother as well as my half-brother, Keith, and his father who were both in the room with her now. They were all chatting. They were complete. A family, a complete family, something I'll never be able to have. My family isn't complete and it won't ever be complete. A hand sneaked onto my shoulder. I turned around and it was L—
