Chapter 15 - Girls V Guys Pt.3

Wednesday -5/3/18- The competition continued even though AJ was in hospital due to the head injury that she suffered yesterday. The trainees stood outside the apartment building waiting for their buses just as they did yesterday to take them to the Performance Centre where they'd find out their third challenge from Paul Levesque.

As normal he was stood in front of the Performance Centre but it was only Lita Dumas who was with him.

The teams stood in front of them.

Paul Levesque- "It's good to see you guys today, I have a couple of things that I need to say. Due to AJ's injury yesterday Lita will be joining Team Red until AJ is able to return."

Lita put on a red armband and went over to stand with her new teammates who were happy to have her services.

Paul Levesque- "Today's challenge is a free throw contest in Basketball. You'll stand in the circle of the Basketball key at the basket and try to score. Each team will have five throws, one for each member, and of course who ever scores the most wins. If you draw after five throws we go to sudden death. Everyone on the buses and we will go.

The teams got on the buses and went to a basketball court near the soccer pitch they played on two days before.

They arrived and started practicing their shooting with the guys down one end and the girls down the other. Paul was generous and gave the teams thirty minutes to prepare so that the teams could work out the order they'd throw in.

Team Red were struggling with their shooting and Lita was not happy.

Lita Dumas- "Nikki you haven't scored one single practice shot. I'm worried that we are going to get our asses kicked. Stand with your feet apart put the ball in your right hand above your head, put your left hand on the side of the ball, bend your knees and push your legs up and push your hand forward."

Nikki did what Lita told her to do and the ball hit the backboard and went into the basket.

Nikki Bella- "Oh my god I made it. Thank you Lita."

Lita Dumas- "If you do that in the challenge we have a good chance of winning."

Paul Levesque called the team captains Dean Ambrose and Paige Bevis to the middle for the coin toss.

Paul Levesque- "Winner of the coin toss decides who throws first, Dean call it in the air."

Paul flipped the coin.

Dean Ambrose- "Tails!"

The coin landed with tails facing up meaning Dean won the toss and he elected to throw second meaning the girls would throw first.

Everyone was ready for the contest. The order the team members would throw in went as follows:

Paige Bevis- Red
Sami Zayn- Blue
Sasha Banks- Red
Roman Reigns- Blue
Lita Dumas- Red
Dean Ambrose- Blue
Nikki Bella- Red
Seth Rollins- Blue
Becky Lynch- Red
Finn Balor- Blue

First up was Paige, she took the ball and bounced it a couple of times before taking her shot. She took the shot and scored making it look easy.
Team Red 1-0 Team Blue

Next up was Sami Zayn for Team Blue. Just like Paige he bounced the ball a couple of times before shooting and just like Paige he scored.
Team Red 1-1 Team Blue

It was Sasha Banks' turn to shoot. She took the shot which hit the front of the rim and bounced up into the basket.
Team Red 2-1 Team Blue

The pressure was on for Roman Reigns but he looked so focused on putting the ball into the basket. He looked only at the basket, nothing else, not a person, not any object. He shot and punched the air in triumph as the ball swooshed through the net.
Team Red 2-2 Team Blue

Next to shoot was the most confident member of any of the teams, it was Lita's turn. She picked up the ball, shot and scored for Team Red.
Team Red 3-2 Team Blue

It was now the turn of the Team Blue captain Dean Ambrose. He walked up to shoot.

Lita Dumas- "Remember not to miss dumbass!"

Dean laughed and ignored Lita. He shot and as soon as the ball left his hands he turned to Lita, winked and gave her the middle finger as the ball went into the basket.
Team Red 3-3 Team Blue

Paul Levesque- "That's enough Dean."

Dean strutted away.

It was now Nikki's turn to shoot. She did exactly what Lita told her to do. Put the right hand on the ball above her head, put her legs apart, put the left hand on the side of the ball, bend her knees and pushed the ball. Nikki didn't push hard enough though and the ball fell short of the basket meaning that she missed.
Team Red 3-3 Team Blue

It was now in the hands of Seth Rollins to give Team Blue the lead in the contest. If he scored they'd be a basket ahead. Seth looked a little shaky but that was nothing unusual for him. E wiped his sweating palms on his jeans an went for the shot. The ball hit the backboard and bounced back towards Seth. He'd missed and Sami, Roman and Finn put their heads in their hands.
Team Red 3-3 Team Blue

Simply put, Becky needed to score this basket. She coped well with pressure. Becky got the ball, looked at it and threw it. It clipped the front of the rim but rolled up it and into the basket. The girls were so relieved to see it drop in.
Team Red 4-3 Team Blue

Now the pressure was really on the potential last thrower, Finn Balor. If Finn missed then his team lost the challenge. If he scored then he would take it to sudden death. Finn bounced the ball and shut his eyes. He breathed heavily, opened his eyes and shot. The ball swivelled around on the hoop twice before the ball bounced of the backboard and fell out of the hoop.
Team Red 4-3 Team Blue
Team Red Win

Finn sunk to the ground holding his face as the girls celebrated their win.

Finn Balor(thought)- "I've lost this for us and let everyone down. I can't even believe I did that."

The guys went over to Finn.

Roman put his hand out.

Roman Reigns- "Finn you missed. It's fine we don't care we will get them next time."

Dean Ambrose- "We haven't lost this series yet brother so get out of the dirt and keep fighting. You now have something to prove to us, the the girls and to yourself and hopefully that'll motivate you."

The guys went back to their bus and talked while the girls messed around on the basketball court for a while until Paul instructed them to get on the bus and get home.

Overall in the series it was now Team Red 2-1 Team Blue. The guys needed to win the next challenge otherwise they would lose the whole thing.

Authors Note: Got to feel bad for Finn being the person who missed the crucial shot but he needs to rebound.
