Chapter 32 - Saving Private Ambrose Pt.1

Wednesday -6/10/18- The rookies in Nevada were each individually woken up by a room wake up call that was set up by Officer Charles.

In their rooms, Seth, Paige and Roman all got on hiking gear (boots, cargo pants, sweatshirts and a bomber jacket) and went across to the police station where Officer Charles, and the hundred men who would join them on their expedition, were stood looking at a map of the Black Rock Desert.

Officer Charles- "There are twenty of us, surely we can find this kid."

The Officer looked over to see the rookies standing talking to each other.

Officer Charles- "You three want to ask any questions?"

Neither of the three volunteered to put forward a question.

Officer Charles- "Then let's get this show on the road."

Everyone on the expedition went to the police's car park where SWAT vans were lined up in rows. Many of these vans were taken to Black Rock Desert that day with the explorers inside.

After an hour drive they had made it to the desert, the one hundred police officers scattered around the huge desert. They used the tactics that they had been told to use by Officer Charles but the desert may be too big for them to work. None of the officers had that view but Paige did.

She was so nervous, she hadn't seen Dean in six months and missed him dearly. She didn't know what he'd look like, how he'd feel about her or if he even wanted to go back to Orlando with her.

She didn't say any of this because she knew that Roman and Seth wouldn't understand her feelings.

Roman, Seth and Paige stayed with Officer Charles and the four of them patrolled the desert in a group.

Officer Charles- "I can guarantee you guys that if your friend is in this desert we will find him."

Seth Rollins- "I hope so, things haven't been the same since he left."

Roman Reigns- "It's been too quiet. I miss that high energy that he brought with him wherever he went."

Paige didn't want to say much.

Paige Bevis- "You're right, it has been quiet without him."

That entire day was dedicated towards finding Dean. Officer Charles was constantly getting updates on his walkie-talkie about the progress that the team had made in the desert.

The terminology that was having used was a foreign language to Paige, Seth and Roman and they constantly had to ask Officer Charles what people were saying to him and asking if there was any good news as they kept walking through the desert.

Paige, Roman and Seth thirty yards ahead of Officer Charles when eventually good news was communicated to Officer Charles by another Officer called Officer Curtis via the walkie-talkie.

Officer Curtis- "Officer Charles we have a lead on the kid!"

Officer Charles- "Talk to me."

Officer Curtis- "We found a cave which has a poster of Rowdy Roddy Piper on the wall, a mattress and an empty suitcase."

Officer Charles- "Can you tell me your geographical coordinates?"

Officer Curtis- "X is 121, Y is -27, not sure about the Z coordinate."

Officer Charles- "I'll call a truck to pick me up and I'll be there soon."

Officer Charles shouted on the trainees.

Officer Charles- "Kids! We have good news!"

The three came sprinting and Charles explained to them the information that he had been told. The truck picked them up quickly and they were able to get to the geographical coordinates that they had been told traces of Dean were.

The four of them went into the cave with torches and saw the scene that Officer Curtis described.

A Roddy Piper poster, a mattress and an empty suitcase.

Charles looked deeper into the cave and found a fire pit.

He lightly put his finger on a piece of metal that was in the fire pit and gasped.

Officer Charles- "The metal in this fire pit is still warm meaning that he was here recently."

Seth Rollins- "Maybe he saw you guys coming and fled."

Officer Charles- "Maybe but he can't of ran far. Everyone get back to looking for him, especially close to this cave."

Paige Bevis- "Do you guys mind if I just take a minute in here?"

Officer Charles- "Not at all."

Everyone cleared out of the cave leaving just Paige in it. She went over to the fire pit and picked up a thick stick that was nearby. She dipped the stick into the ashes and wrote on the mattress that was in the cave, kissed her hand and then touched the mattress.

Roman Reigns- "Paige I got told to come and get you because we need to go look for Dean urgently, you ready?"

Paige Bevis- "I think so."

Roman Reigns- "Listen, I know that you are finding this hard to get through but we are going to find him."

Paige's eyes started to water.

Paige Bevis- "You have no idea how much I miss him."

Roman went over to Paige and hugged her tightly.

Roman Reigns- "Trust me, I miss him just as much as you do but I have faith that I will see him again and you need to have that same faith."

Seth walked into the cave.

Seth Rollins- "You guys missed it, one officer got bitten by a snake and I think he might die from the poison so we are calling it quits for today."

Paige sighed and the three left the cave and went back to the trucks and made their at back to the police station.

For the whole journey Paige sat, misty eyed, staring at the stars, hoping that she would find Dean eventually.
