Chapter Seven

As I was getting ready for NY lunch date with Zack someone began pounding on my door.

I ran to open it and Kat was standing there looking shocked.

"Hey what's up?" I smiled.

Kat huffed a d shook her head pushing me in my room and shutting the door behind her.

"Dez, we have a problem." She begins looking nervous.

"What's wrong?" I ask nervous "I'm not allowed to go on the lunch date with Zack am I?"

"What?" Kat asks surprised. "You have a lunch date with Zack?"

"Yeah, he asked me last night." I smile "I don't think it an actual date just he felt bad about the prank and all."

"Well,you're going to have to cancel it" Kat mumbles "And if he asked you to lunch it's an actual date believe that."

"Why do I have to cancel?" I ask surprised by the disappointment in my voice.

"Matt just told me that Jimmy's parents are here. Right now." Kat exclaims.

"Oh shit." I mumble feeling my heart drop.

"Yeah, exactly." Kat agrees. "I called Barbra. She's going to meet us for lunch."

"What do I tell Zack?" I ask

"I'll handle him. Just get dressed we have to go." Kat tells me pulling out her phone.

I run I to my bathroom pulling on jeans and a T-shirt

"Zack,I need her for something. How about you two take my reservations for tomorrow night?" Kat explains I to the phone. "Yes I owe you one. She looked beautiful and was excited. You could I will feel her out. Got to go."she hurried off kg the phone grabbing my hand yanking me into the hall.

"What was that about?" I ask her.

"Zack wanted to know if you were excited about going on a date with him. And what you looked like. Also if you like him. Do you?"Kat asks me

"I don't know. Can I?" I ask her.

"Why can't you?" She asks me as we enter the elevator.

"Well,he's my boss." I start.

"Technically Larry is your boss next excuse." Kat laughs.

"Jimmy." I state

"Well, it's been almost seven years since he passed. And you guys were split up a long time. I would say it's fine. Knowing Jimmy if he couldn't have you he probably wouldn't mind Zack." Kat explains.

"Maybe." I sigh "Why did his parents come?"

"They usually come to one show a tour. I didn't expect them to fly out but they did." She shrugs

"Thank you for the warning."

"Of course. I wouldn't want you surprised." Kat smiles as the doors open to the lobby.

As we walked I saw the unmistakable form of Joe Sullivan.

Barbra was by his side.

"You okay?" Kat whispered.

I took a deep breath to calm my nerves "first time I've seen them since the funeral." I whisper.

"If you don't want to do this I'll........well I'll think of something." Kat smiles

"No it's fine. I need to see them." I mumble starting to walk again.

Kat nods grabbing my hand walking with me to where Jimmy's parents stand.
