The sound of a key turning in the lock of the front door stopped our conversation. I stood up and straightened out my dress, taking a deep breath as the door opened. Nick stood up and patted me on the shoulder for some sort of support.
In walked Albert, and behind him was a rather nervous looking Fabrizio.
"Hi, Fab." I managed to say as I stared at him. He was still the same old Fab, and I was glad about that. "It's...It's really nice to see you."
Fab looked up at me and gingerly walked over. "Happy birthday, Jade." he said softly.
"Thanks." Okay, Albert was right...it was awkward as fuck. "Can I talk to you for a minute? Alone?"
Fab's eyes widened and they darted around the room. He didn't look like he wanted to talk.
I looked up at him with pleading eyes. "Please?"
Albert nudged him, forcing him to speak. "Okay..." Fab gave in and I took his hand in mine. He flinched at my touch, but quickly eased up and followed me when I lead him into my room and closed the door.
"I'd just like to say that I'm incredibly sorry for doing what I did," I told him, not allowing myself to cry. "...and I hope you can forgive me because I miss you so fucking much. Please, Fab. I'll do anything for us to just be friends again, as I'm pretty sure our feelings for each other are gone. I'm not as immature and irresponsible as I have been in the past...and I'll never ever do anything like that to anyone ever again. You didn't deserve that."
Fab sighed and wrapped his arms around me. I was shocked that he decided to be so forgiving so quickly.
"I've been wanting to hear that for a long time." he said. "I'm also sorry I never gave you the chance to say it."
"Don't you be sorry for anything." I hugged him back. "It was all me. Thank you so much for giving me a chance."
"You look so different." he said as we stepped apart from each other. "No offence, but you look a little...unwell."
"Yeah, I..." I looked down at the floor, sighing. "I was pretty messed up for a while. But it's all good now."
Fab said nothing for a while as he stared at me, smiling. "Let's go party?"
"Yeah." I agreed, continuing to hug him as we walked out of the bedroom. It was quite amazing how after two years of ignoring each other, we were friends again, just like before. There's a good example of the power of friendship. "Can we talk later too? I'd like to know how you've been and shit."
"Of course." Fab nodded.
"Woo!" Albert, Nikolai and Nick cheered as they watched Fab and I walk into the living room, arms wrapped around each other.
"Is it safe to say we're all a happy family again?" Nick asked, pulling over Albert and Nikolai to join in on a group hug.
"Yeah!" I cheered, then frowned as a thought hit me hard. "But, as much as I don't like to say it out loud...we're missing someone."
"I know it sucks and we all miss him," said Albert. "But we're getting by without him just fine, and it's gonna have to stay that way if we all wanna be happy."
"Let's not darken the mood." Nikolai brought a few beers over. "Drinks?"
"Drinks!" Everyone yelped in unison.
