We started our walk to the diner after getting Julian quite blazed. It was cold as fuck and there was the few odd sketchy looking people roaming the streets. We probably looked as sketchy as them actually, so who am I to judge? I had to literally grab hold of Fab to stop him from participating in a potential drug deal in an alleyway we passed at one point. I still don't know where he got the money for all that shit. That kid always had a bag of weed on him.
"I wanna go back to bed." said Julian as he dragged his feet behind us. "I hate you guys."
"Hey, this was Fab's idea. I wasn't too happy about it either, man." I said back to him with a roll of my eyes.
Julian laughed through his nose, elbowing me gently. "Why'd you drag me outta bed then?"
Why did I drag him out of bed? I guess I don't really have much of a valid reason other than I just wanted to spend time with him. But I couldn't tell him that.
"Little Fabrizio was being a brat." I shrugged. Okay, that was a somewhat valid reason too...even though I could've just went to sleep, let him go in alone, wake up Albert and suffer the consequences himself.
Before Julian could comment on my measly excuse, my phone started to ring. I froze in my tracks when I saw the name that appeared on the screen.
Fab peered over my shoulder. "Who is it?" I slowly turned around and showed him the screen. His eyes widened and he mouthed an 'oops'.
"What's going on?" Julian asked, his hands in his pockets as he kicked an empty can into the gutter.
"It's Albert." I said in a harsh whisper as the phone continued to ring. "What do I do?"
"Don't answer!" yelped Fab in distress.
"It's just Albert," said Julian naively, grabbing the phone off me. "...I'll talk to him."
"No!" Fab and I both lunged at him, snatching vigorously at the phone which Julian had held in the air. He was much taller than the two of us, so we had no chance and decided it would be best to give up and watch as he snickered and held the phone to his ear.
"Hello?" he answered with a smirk. Fab and I watched in horror, clutching onto each other desperately. I don't know why Julian was so amused by this. At one point, I was actually glad he answered the phone and not me, because little did he know, he was about to get a harsh lecture from a very grumpy Albert.
We watched Julian's facial expression turn from a smile, then to a frown, and finally to subtle look of fear. He soon flipped my phone shut and handed it back to me with an emotionless face.
"Well?" Fab raised a brow.
Julian nodded. "We're in trouble."
"Why did you answer?!" I hissed, shoving him into a sign pole. "Idiot!"
"I didn't think he'd be that angry!" Julian protested. "Wait...why is he so angry?"
"He told us not to go out in the state we're in and we defied him." Fab answered in a very nonchalant tone, as if we did nothing wrong. I shot him an evil glare.
"Oh, is he your dad now?" Julian teased as we began to walk again.
"Can it." I shoved him again, more gently this time. "He...he worries." I sighed.
