Work went by in a blur, and before I knew it, Albert and I were on our way home. I was quite nervous about leaving Julian alone in the apartment all day, so I tried to get home as soon as possible, practically dragging poor Albert behind me.
"Can't we grab something to eat first?" Albert whined as we passed numerous cafe's and street vendors.
"Julian's by himsel--"
"He's not a child!" he protested, stopping and pulling me back as we almost passed another cafe. "Listen, we can get something to eat and bring some food home for Jules, alright? You think he'd like that?"
The smell of freshly baked pastries and hot coffee seeped into my nose, making my stomach growl. It was too hard to resist any longer, so I eventually gave in. "Fine!" Plus, it would've be good to bring home Julian a nice meal. I'm pretty sure he was sick of cereal and chips...although he said he wasn't.
We walked into the cafe and sat down at a booth against a wall, which I complained about because I wasn't planning on staying long, but Albert eventually convinced me to sit down and shut up.
"I'll pay for us." Albert said after we'd both ordered some food and drinks.
"The hell you will." I shook my head in refusal. "It's my turn for once!"
Albert put both of his hands up with a laugh. "Sure thing. No complaints here."
When we got our food brought to us, I groaned once again at my large portion of salad that was set down in front of me. I knew Albert would force me to eat it all, meaning we'd be there longer.
Albert happily chomped on his sandwich at an agonisingly slow pace as I picked up a fork and practically forced my salad down at light speed. I stopped when I was halfway done and looked over at Albert, who hadn't even yet eaten half his sandwich.
"I'm gonna give the rest to Jules." I informed him, setting down my fork and wiping my mouth with a napkin.
Albert leaned forward and narrowed his eyes on me with a smile, setting down his sandwich. "Eat it all."
"Albert, I ate half!" I whined, pouting. "I appreciate it but I don't need you monitoring my damn food intake anymore. I'm doing better, am I not? I used to barely even eat a quarter of this...remember?!"
Albert smiled to himself again and took another bite of his sandwich. He then quickly chewed and swallowed so he could speak. "That's true, I guess. Let's get this bagged up and go! Jules can have my half too."
"Yes!" I raised a fist in the air with a light chuckle.
Once I'd paid and got the food all wrapped up and such, we headed back home, making it there in less than 15 minutes -- a new record for us.
I opened the front door and jogged inside, immediately looking around for Julian.
"I'm still here!" A voice called from the living room, followed by sounds from the TV.
"Good boy!" I cheered, setting my wallet and keys down on the kitchen counter as I walked in. "We brought food. Good food!"
"Is it healthy?" Julian asked, a bright smile on his face as I sat down beside him. "I think I'm getting fat from all these chips!" He scrunched up an empty chip bag and tossed it to Albert, who threw it in the trashcan.
"Sorry man," I giggled. "...we barely go grocery shopping. In fact..." I looked over to Albert. "I think we should go tomorrow. You gonna come with, Jules?"
Julian nodded eagerly as he lifted up his shirt to look at his stomach. "Sure."
I smiled and handed him the salad and half sandwich, both packed into a container. "Here's your somewhat healthy food."
"Thanks guys!" Julian's smile widened as he opened it and started digging in.
"So," Albert popped open a can of soda and fell down in between us. "...what'd 'ya do today, dude?"
"Ugh, it was boring as fuck here all by myself. I wrote like two songs though!" said Julian, stuffing his mouth with salad. "I'm so stoked about the band."
"That's so great, Jules!" I grinned as I picked up the remote off of the coffee table and changed the channel.
"Hey!" Julian whined. "I was watching that!"
"Man, I really do hate MTV." I told him, smirking. "It's a bunch of corrupt bullshit."
"You're a bunch of corrupt bullshit." he said back as he stifled a laugh. "You and your personal vendetta against MTV..."
"What was that?" I said in a sarcastic tone, leaning over Albert to get closer to Julian. "You'd like me to take that food off you and fucking eat it all?"
Julian clutched the container of salad to his chest and put on a cheesy grin. "Dude, MTV sucks!"
I patted his shoulder. "You guys are gonna be on there one day."
